Ned's Declassified Star's Holiday Help for Tylor Chase Takes Troubling Turn
Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide cast member Daniel Curtis Lee provided an update on former colleague Tylor Chase after arranging for him to stay in a hotel room for the holidays.
“Happy Holidays,” Lee, 34, captioned a TikTok video posted on Thursday, December 25. “A difficult discussion regarding Tylor Chase and his recovery process.”
Lee began his 3-minute video with a message to his followers, briefly explaining that he received a call from management after getting Chase off the streets and into a hotel the day before.
“Just that evening, I received a call from management, they’re concerned,” Lee explained. “The room was left unlocked. Why is there a microwave in the bathtub? … I simply feel so disheartened. I am at a loss.”

He continued, “His family informed me that they had attempted the hotel option previously and it hadn’t been successful.”
Lee appeared to be frustrated with himself for believing that he could “resolve the situation” for Chase.
“Support should be offered to individuals struggling with mental health issues, substance abuse issues,” he continued. “A third party should be able to secure someone into treatment, obtain them a psychological evaluation to determine what is happening and enable them to detox.”

Lee told fans he’s “disappointed” the system isn’t working in Chase’s favor.
“There’s no reason why his family shouldn’t be able to get him assistance. I’m truly feeling devastated here,” Lee said. “I do want to express gratitude to those who have been supportive, the people on the ground.”
He added, “I think that it is time to consider initiating a 5150 hold, but I also need your input. Do you believe it’s appropriate for a third party to contact authorities and arrange for someone’s admission into a facility when you know they require treatment and are severely mentally impaired?”
Lee concluded by telling fans that he wants to “do something before it’s too late” for Chase. He also requested that followers with experience in a similar situation reach out.
Details about Chase’s living circumstances became public earlier this month after admirers of Ned’s Declassified — which aired on Nickelodeon from 2004 to 2007 — shared videos of the former child star, who appeared to be experiencing homelessness.
Lee shared an Instagram video on Tuesday, December 24, of him locating Chase in Riverside, California, providing him with food and checking him into a hotel. The trio even FaceTimed with their former costar Devon Werkheiser. (Lee portrayed Cookie, Werkheiser played Ned and Chase appeared as Qwerly on the show.)
“I simply wanted him to have, at least, some basic accommodations,” Lee said on Tuesday. “He wished to remain local and this was the only option that was available and accepting guests, so here we are, man.”
After they got Chase settled in the hotel, Lee promised to return and check in.
“You’re the man, brother. I believe in you and we’re going to succeed, bro,” Lee said. “All we have to do is persevere and continue working, dude.”
