Neighbors With Benefits Star Faces Shocking Sex Crime Charges
Authorities in Ohio have taken custody of pets belonging to Tony McCollister, a former cast member of Neighbors With Benefits, following his recent arrest on charges involving child and animal exploitation.
Warren County Sheriff Barry Riley informed TMZ on Saturday, December 27th, that McCollister’s animals were seized during a police investigation and “are receiving proper care.”
McCollister, 43, appeared in court on Thursday, December 25th, according to Cincinnati’s WLWT, facing accusations of distributing obscene material involving a minor and engaging in sexual acts with animals.
Court records obtained by the news station indicate that McCollister allegedly uploaded material depicting child sexual abuse to a Google account and engaged in sexual activity with two dogs.
Neighbors With Benefits Alum Arrested for Child and Animal Sex Crimes
McCollister was released on $250,000 bail on Thursday and has been instructed to avoid all contact with children and animals. His next scheduled court appearance is set for Tuesday, December 30.
Tony and his former wife, Diana McCollister, previously starred on A&E’s Neighbors With Benefits. The documentary series was canceled in 2015 after just two episodes due to negative public reaction.
“We participated for a specific reason. We wanted our story to be shared,” Diana, who shares three children with Tony, told Cincinnati’s Fox affiliate in May 2015, explaining their decision to join the reality show. “This is how we practice our lifestyle. We simply wanted to present our perspective because we believe we are content. We have a fulfilling life. We aimed to demonstrate that we are ordinary people and dispel the unfavorable perceptions associated with swinging.”
She continued at the time, “There are certainly challenges and difficulties. There are definitely tough times. Arguments and disagreements. It keeps the marriage lively. There are no limitations. We don’t know what we will do tomorrow, the next day, or the day after.”
While speaking with a local newspaper, Tony emphasized that they were “satisfied with” their marriage after embracing a swinging lifestyle.
“Defining marriage in our own way doesn’t harm your marriage. It doesn’t diminish your marriage. It doesn’t affect your marriage in any way,” he explained. “Be happy with your marriage. We are happy with ours. This lifestyle isn’t suitable for everyone.”
Tony added, “You shouldn’t pressure your spouse into it and expect a positive outcome. There are many drawbacks to this, but it can be a very positive experience if approached with openness, honesty, and clear communication.”
Hollywood's Sexual Misconduct Scandals
In the premiere episode of Neighbors With Benefits, Tony further highlighted that their lifestyle wasn’t a good fit for every couple.
“What we do isn’t for everyone, and I agree with that,” Tony stated in a clip, discussing his marital arrangement with a friend. “The relationship might not be working, and divorce rates are high. I think it will be difficult to always explain this to our children, because I don’t necessarily want this for them.”
