Nicki Minaj has publicly addressed the individual seeking to claim her $20 million Los Angeles residence to recover a $500,000 obligation owed by the acclaimed artist and her spouse, Kenneth Petty.

On Wednesday, October 15, Minaj, aged 42, took to X to share multiple posts detailing her ongoing legal dispute with Thomas Weidenmuller.

Weidenmuller, previously employed as a security guard at a 2019 Minaj concert, secured a default judgment against Minaj and Petty, 47, when they did not respond to a legal complaint concerning an alleged backstage assault by Petty. As Us Weekly initially reported, the claimant is now pursuing legal action to confiscate Minaj’s Hidden Hills, California, property, anticipating that its sale will first cover the remaining mortgage, then his awarded sum.

Via X, Minaj shared a fan's commentary on the litigation. The fan asserted that Minaj and Petty were never directly notified, yet Weidenmuller managed to publish a notice in a newspaper. (The court had authorized Weidenmuller to serve Minaj and Petty through a public advertisement after his process server encountered difficulties locating the pair.)

The fan contended that the method used to notify Minaj could be “exploited strategically instead of being reserved as a final option” for legal service.

“This approach gives plaintiffs an edge in obtaining default judgments if defendants overlook the public announcement, resulting in automatic victories without debating the case. Furthermore, this technique carries the danger of public embarrassment and aggression, transforming legal issues into public displays, particularly for prominent individuals,” stated the message re-shared by Minaj.

Minaj seemingly alleged that she received no formal notification or knowledge of the lawsuit initiated by Weidenmuller, stating, “I possess proof that these documents were provided to a business [manager] who failed to inform me. Both my legal counsel AND business [managers] (previous & current) are INFORMED. We will see if they choose to comment or if I will need to publicly identify them. That identical business [manager] defrauded me on NUMEROUS occasions.”

These posts on X emerged mere hours after Us disclosed the news that Weidenmuller had submitted legal papers requesting the sale of Minaj’s residence.

Minaj is the proprietor of an 11-bedroom, 16-bathroom, 11,820 square foot property located in Hidden Hills, which she acquired for $19.5 million in December 2022.

Within legal filings, Weidenmuller asserted the residence is presently valued at approximately $20 million. He noted that Minaj carries a $13.2 million mortgage lien along with an additional “$722,151 homestead exemption,” summing up to “just shy of $14 million.” He suggested the property could be liquidated to settle both the mortgage and the $500,000 granted to him in his legal action.

“The property’s present fair market valuation stands at $20 million, generating roughly $6 million in equity after accounting for the lien and exemption. This sum is ample enough to fulfill the judgment, inclusive of accumulated interest and expenses for enforcement,” observed the attorney for the alleged victim.

Weidenmuller expressed that it was “unfortunate” that he had to request the compulsory sale of Minaj’s home, but stated this action stemmed from her failure to settle the outstanding debt.
