Nikki Glaser and Chris Convy's Decade-Long Relationship: A Timeline of Breakups and Reunions
Comedian Nikki Glaser and her partner, Chris Convy, have had a long, on-and-off relationship spanning a decade.
“I believe the periods of separation [are] due to my deep-seated fear of making a lifelong commitment,” Glaser explained during a May 2024 appearance on the Howard Stern Show. “I feel that committing to something forever limits the possibility of future adventures. It feels like an admission of finality, a settling.”
According to Glaser, she and Convy have ended their relationship “likely five times in 10 years.”
“Our breakups have ranged from just a couple of days to one lasting three years,” she recalled. “He initiated the separations. In the early stages of our relationship, I was so eager to have a boyfriend that I didn’t accurately represent who I was.”

Glaser and Convy first met while working on her MTV series, Nikki & Sara Live.
“It was my debut television show and he was a producer on the program and he was from St. Louis, where I also grew up,” Glaser mentioned during an October 2022 appearance on In Depth With Graham Bensinger. “I had recently stopped drinking, about a year prior, and I didn’t want to be involved with anyone who struggled with alcohol.”
According to Glaser, she initially found Convy attractive but “too cheerful.”
“It was, like, a party where we all met each other,” she added. “He was dancing and he seemed incredibly happy. I thought, ‘That guy must be intoxicated, how else could he be so energetic?’ So, I dismissed him, thinking, ‘No, not for me.’”
When Glaser discovered Convy was also sober, she developed a “crush.”
“I secretly had a crush on him for quite some time, which was enjoyable because I was constantly longing for him,” she quipped. “It was very similar to Jim and Pam [from The Office.] I was Jim and he was unaware. He was my first serious boyfriend.”
Glaser previously shared with Us Weekly in her 2022 “25 Things You Don’t Know About Me” feature that she had her first boyfriend at the age of 24.

Convy continued to collaborate with Glaser, producing her short-lived show Not Safe With Nikki Glaser on Comedy Central. Around the time the show was canceled after a single season, they separated.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Glaser relocated back to her hometown of St. Louis and sold her docuseries Welcome Home Nikki Glaser to the E! network. While the television host initially pitched it as a dating show, she later began seeing Convy again off camera.
“I kinda [wanted] to find someone who would appear with me on camera,” she told Graham Bensinger in 2022, then explaining what she told Convy. “I’ll continue to see you privately, but I need to date someone on the show unless you’re willing to be on camera and he responded, ‘I’ll do it.’”
Glaser described Convy’s willingness to publicize their relationship as a “significant turning point” because it demonstrated how much he cared for her.
“He wants to, like, share an experience together, so it was all these factors,” she added. “Then I started prioritizing him, which was difficult for me.”

During Glaser’s conversation with Bensinger, she confirmed that she and Convy briefly split that September.
“Last month felt like a ‘make-or-break’ moment, where it was like, ‘What are we doing? Where is this headed?’” she added. “We never discussed marriage. We both agreed nine years ago that we didn’t want to get married or have children, but now he’s in his 40s [and] I’m in my late 30s. What’s the plan? Our priorities have shifted, our goals have changed.”

Glaser provided further insight into their relationship on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, noting that they previously separated due to her podcast admissions.
“Not because I thought he wouldn’t hear them, but they would just surface naturally under the guise of ‘it’s comedy!’” she said. “He eventually heard them and said, ‘I don’t recognize this person.’ … He had every reason to end things because it was shocking to him as I was constantly being dishonest. He really helped me stop lying, although I’m not perfect because I still fear abandonment, so there are some issues in our relationship where I worry he’ll be upset.”

Glaser discussed the challenges of incorporating her relationship into her standup routines in a June interview with People.
“The most difficult aspect is discussing your relationship on stage or inserting jokes when you’re upset about something, and you bring it to the stage before you bring it to him. So perhaps that’s where tension arises, but not really anymore,” she said, adding that Convy “is so understanding” and has “given [her] permission” to joke about him.
“He said, ‘You can talk about anything on stage about me as long as it’s funny. The second it isn’t, if it bombs, then we have an issue,” Glaser continued. “‘If you’re just venting up there just to get it off your chest and embarrass me, that’s not good, but if you’re up there and you’re making a solid joke, you can do whatever you want.’”
Several months later, Glaser joked about Convy in her Saturday Night Live monologue, telling the audience in October, “I do date a shorter man.”
“He is shorter than me. But he’s, like, really attractive. And honestly, I think that’s why I got him. Because I couldn’t get his face on a taller model. Like, if you want to get a 10 in the face, you gotta go [5-foot-7] in the height. That’s the trick,” she joked. “It’s like getting a hot guy on discount. He’s marked down. I met my boyfriend at TJ Maxx, clearance rack, he was hiding in it.”
Glaser continued, “It’s crazy ‘cause sometimes I’ll post pictures of us online, and I’ll get comments of, like, ‘Girl, he’s hot.’ Like, ‘How’d you get him?’ And I’m like, ‘If you zoomed out, you’d see he’s sitting on my lap, so this is a tiny guy. Went digging in the bargain bin, ladies.’”
January 2026
Before entering The Beverly Hilton to host the 2026 Golden Globes, Glaser walked the red carpet with Convy.
Convy maintained a classic look with a traditional suit and bow-tie. As for Glaser, she brightened the event with a pink dress as she held hands with her partner and posed for photographs.
