Nuzzi Memoir Alleges RFK Jr. Wanted to Impregnate Her Contradicting Earlier Denials
Journalist Olivia Nuzzi is revealing fresh information about her claimed relationship with ex-presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
In a profile released on Friday, November 14, The New York Times offered a sneak peek of the reporter’s upcoming memoir, American Canto, in which Nuzzi recounts her version of their purported entanglement.
According to the Times, Nuzzi, 32, asserts in her book that RFK Jr., 71, expressed a desire to father her child, contradicting earlier statements where he implied their connection was “never physical.”
The publication stated that Nuzzi further alleges in her memoir that RFK Jr. initiated the declaration of “I love you,” composed verses for her, and vowed to protect her at all costs. Nuzzi reveals through the book, slated for release on December 2, that RFK Jr. affectionately called her “Livvy.”
Us Weekly contacted RFK Jr.’s spokespeople seeking a statement.

During October 2024, Ryan Lizza, Nuzzi’s former fiancé, asserted in legal filings that Nuzzi informed him RFK Jr. wished to “impregnate” her, among other allegations.
“Nuzzi was involved in an illicit relationship with a married man for nearly twelve months,” Lizza alleged in court papers submitted on October 14, 2024, which Page Six acquired.
He further stated, “She acknowledged the liaison, and through weeks of discussions, she revealed how she got caught up in what she termed a ‘toxic,’ ‘unhealthy,’ ‘stupid,’ ‘psychotic,’ ‘crazy,’ ‘indefensible’ dynamic with a 70-year-old ‘sex addict’ who, she claimed, sought to ‘possess,’ ‘control,’ and ‘impregnate’ her.”
At that point, Us Weekly sought remarks from both Nuzzi and RFK Jr.
Reports surfaced regarding Nuzzi’s supposed “inappropriate personal relationship” with RFK Jr. soon after she interviewed him concerning his political aspirations for New York Magazine in September 2024. That same month, the publication issued a statement addressing Nuzzi’s alleged failure to reveal her connection to Kennedy.
“She is presently on sabbatical from the magazine, and the magazine is undertaking a more exhaustive independent investigation. We lament this breach of our readership’s confidence,” a portion of the magazine’s statement declared.
Back then, neither New York Magazine nor Nuzzi publicly identified RFK Jr., yet both CNN and The New York Times confirmed he was the individual in question. In comments made to The Times, Nuzzi refuted having a physical involvement with the political figure.
“I neither directly covered the person nor utilized them as an informant. The connection was never carnal but ought to have been revealed to avoid the perception of a conflict,” Nuzzi stated in her declaration. “I profoundly lament my immediate failure to disclose this and extend my apologies to those I’ve let down, particularly my peers at New York.”
RFK Jr. similarly disclaimed the alleged liaison via his representative. “Mr. Kennedy encountered Olivia Nuzzi only once in his life for an interview she sought, which resulted in a critical article,” the spokesperson informed NBC News in a September 2024 statement.

Both Nuzzi and RFK Jr. were already committed to other individuals; Nuzzi’s then-betrothed, Lizza, terminated his engagement to her in the wake of the controversy.
As for him, RFK Jr. has been wed to actress Cheryl Hines since 2014.
Hines spoke about the rumors and news reports concerning her marital status during an October installment of “The Katie Miller Podcast.”
“I believe one must always evaluate the origin, correct?” she remarked on the podcast then. “That’s my initial step. And it concludes with a discussion with Bobby.”
Hines continued, “Bobby was campaigning for president, and it proved to be a grueling eighteen months filled with news, gossip, write-ups, and disorder. And at that moment, I mused, ‘Alright, this is merely additional disorder and conjecture.’ And, well, it was quite overwhelming.”
When queried about Nuzzi’s forthcoming book publication, Hines replied, “I am unfamiliar with this individual. I don’t know their motives. I might speculate, but I choose not to. However, you are welcome to if you wish.”
