Offset Faces Security Guard Lawsuit Amidst Growing Tax Debts and Legal Battles
Offset, the estranged spouse of Cardi B, is facing a lawsuit from a security staff member, which comes as his financial issues with taxes continue to grow.
On Saturday, November 1, Us Weekly acquired legal papers indicating that security officer Jim Sanchez initiated a lawsuit accusing Offset (identified as Kiari Kendrell Cephus) of assault, battery, and deliberate infliction of emotional distress following the rapper’s contentious trip to the MedMen LAX dispensary in March. Sanchez claimed that when requested to present identification, Offset “grew aggressive, verbally challenged, and physically assaulted the Plaintiff by hitting him in the face.” (TMZ was the first to report this information.)
Sanchez further alleged that multiple individuals participated in “further assaulting and battering” him during the confrontation. The security personnel stated that he was ultimately transported by emergency medical services to a nearby hospital for significant head and neck injuries.
Offset’s spokesperson had previously informed TMZ that a dispensary employee aggressively approached him and spat on the hip-hop artist during the disagreement concerning identification. His representative asserted that Offset did not instigate the aggression.

Concurrently, Us reported exclusively on Wednesday, October 29, that Offset received another six-figure tax lien from the IRS, escalating his total outstanding tax debt to more than $2.3 million. The federal agency claimed on October 15 that Offset was liable for $486,426.35 in 2023 taxes and had previously issued a distinct lien in 2024 for $1,575,266.73 for 2022 taxes.
Back in March, the Georgia Department of Revenue registered a lien amounting to $292,000 for the year 2021. The initial sum of $167,916 had significantly increased because of interest ($53,000), fines ($40,000), and administrative collection charges ($33,000) that authorities stated Offset was obligated to pay.
Furthermore, Offset is contesting a $232,000 court ruling issued against him concerning an alleged attack at a Florida adult entertainment venue, subsequent to Leamsy Izquierdo and Humberto Crespo accusing him of physical assault at the establishment in 2021. Based on legal records procured by Us, Izquierdo and Crespo officially moved to initiate debt collection procedures against Offset earlier this year.
The legal action arose from a supposed confrontation with Offset after his then-spouse, Cardi B, was reportedly doused with champagne by an individual in the club. Izquierdo and Crespo refuted any involvement in spraying the champagne, yet they claimed Offset abruptly entered the gathering to assault them.
A Miami magistrate approved the alleged victims’ petition for a default ruling late last year, however, Offset sought to have the judgment dismissed in April, asserting he had never received the required legal paperwork. A judicial proceeding is scheduled for February 2026.
Cardi B initiated divorce proceedings against Offset in August 2024, concluding six years of matrimony. The couple had previously separated in 2018 but subsequently reunited.
