Paris Jackson Shares Inspiring Message of Sobriety and Support

Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris Jackson, is encouraging others on their journey to sobriety.

“Achieving sobriety isn’t always a sign that life is perfect,” Paris, 27, shared via Instagram on Saturday, January 3, alongside a collection of moments from the previous year. “A few years in, it became incredibly difficult for what felt like an endless period.”

She continued, “I didn’t possess the same coping mechanisms I was accustomed to. I had to learn to experience life as it unfolds.”

Paris, who stopped consuming alcohol in 2020, also reflected on various mental health challenges she’s encountered since then.

“Treatment-resistant major depressive disorder is challenging, as is [PTSD] and OCD,” she wrote. “If you’re dealing with this or anything similar, you’re not alone. Stay strong, and if no one has expressed their affection for you today, know that I care about you.”

Paris’ honest message resonated with many of her celebrity acquaintances in the comments section.

“I’ve struggled with OCD my entire life. I completely understand it,” musician J.T. Hiskey replied. “You are remarkable, and I’m always so proud of you!”

Influencer Crystal Pump added, “You are wonderful! Sometimes, the only thing preventing people from giving up is hearing someone say they love them, and you’re someone who shares that vital message.”

Additionally, Taylor Lautner, Madonna, Lucy Hale, Gabrielle Union and former Dancing With the Stars champion Nyle DiMarco all “liked” her post.

Paris celebrated a significant milestone in her sobriety last year.

“Hello, I’m pk, and I’m a recovering alcoholic and heroin addict,” she wrote via Instagram in January 2025. “Today marks five years free from all drugs and alcohol. To say that I’m grateful would be an understatement. Gratitude barely begins to express it.”

According to Paris, she’s able to “smile” more since embracing sobriety.

“I’m able to create music. I’m able to appreciate the joy of loving my dogs and cat. I’m able to feel heartbreak in all its intensity. I’m able to grieve. I’m able to laugh. I’m able to dance. I’m able to trust. I feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm. I’ve discovered that life continues to happen regardless of whether I’m sober or not, but today I get to fully engage with it.”

Stars Get Real About the Connection Between Mental Health and Addiction

Several months later, Paris further elaborated on how her life has improved since she stopped using drugs and alcohol.

“I didn’t just reclaim my life; I gained a better one,” she stated at the Friendly House Awards Luncheon in October 2025, as reported by People. “I feel like getting sober was similar to being in a car accident because everything I had previously pushed to the back seat was propelled forward upon impact, and today I’m learning to navigate life’s challenges.”

She concluded, “Alongside these newfound realities, I support any and all programs, foundations, and organizations that work towards assisting other women in achieving the same.”
