Patrick Muldoon Sets the Record Straight on Denise Richards Romance Rumors

Despite Sami Sheen's speculations, Patrick Muldoon wants his followers to know he harbors no romantic feelings for Denise Richards.

“Our relationship was intermittent in the 1990s, but ever since, we've only been friends,” the 57-year-old Muldoon disclosed during the October 22 Wednesday installment of iHeartRadio’s “MisSPELLING” podcast. “Sammi, our connection is purely platonic.”

During a March installment of Denise Richards and Her Wild Things, the 54-year-old Richards collaborated with Muldoon, portraying the romantic lead in his music video. The palpable connection between them was noticed by Richards' 21-year-old eldest child.

“He engages in a lot of playful banter with her, I must admit,” Sheen remarked during the broadcast. “While I don't wish to cause him any trouble, I suspect he might still hold affections for my mother. It's just a thought.”

In his recent podcast interview, Muldoon stated he has been in a relationship for two years and considers Richards nothing more than a “cherished friend.”

“What many don't realize about Denise and me is that while people assume we first met on Starship Troopers, our actual introduction was in an acting workshop when she was 19 and I was 21,” he informed guest interviewer Elisa Donovan. “Neither of us originated from show business backgrounds, and our families developed a rapport over time, periodically connecting to support each other through the various challenges inherent in our careers.”

The 54-year-old Donovan speculated that Sheen's observation might have stemmed from “a hopeful desire,” potentially due to Muldoon's perception as “a decent individual.”

The former star of Days of Our Lives confessed he has a positive rapport with both of Richards’ grown daughters.

“My connection with both Lola and Sami is strong,” he stated. “I've been acquainted with them since their infancy, and thus, I maintain a solid bond with each.”

“Denise and I are extremely close pals, and she's currently navigating a difficult period with various issues,” Muldoon proceeded. “I certainly wish her nothing but the best, and we are friends.”

By July, Us Weekly validated that Richards and Aaron Phypers had ended their marriage following six years together.

The 53-year-old Phypers initiated the divorce proceedings on July 7, listing irreconcilable differences as the grounds for separation. In the subsequent weeks and months, both individuals leveled astonishing accusations against one another, leading to a legal dispute.

“She had affection for him given all his endeavors and the support she provided for his aspirations, but it also became a substantial financial strain on her that she's no longer able to sustain,” a source informed Us soon after the divorce became public. “The situation impacted both of them negatively.”

While Richards maintains her camaraderie with Muldoon, she also seems to be on favorable terms with her former spouse, Charlie Sheen.

That September, the ex-pair appeared side-by-side on the red carpet for the premiere of Netflix’s aka Charlie Sheen in Hollywood.

“We exchanged glances on the red carpet and simply chuckled. Charlie inquired, ‘Is this 2002?’ to which I responded, ‘It certainly feels that way.’ Who could have imagined?” Richards posted on Instagram on September 5. “What an experience we've shared — filled with numerous highs and lows. Yet, when challenges arise, fundamentally we both understand we can rely on one another. I am immensely proud of him, and genuinely appreciative that he invited me to contribute to his narrative.
