Phypers Denies Richards' Abuse Claims in Court

Aaron Phypers appeared in court to refute claims of mistreatment made by his estranged spouse Denise Richards — asserting he never physically harmed her and that she was responsible for her own injury, as exclusively learned by Us Weekly.

During proceedings on Wednesday, October 8, the 53-year-old Phypers faced inquiries regarding Richards, 54, allegations of physical abuse spanning their six-year union.

Phypers dismissed the allegations of physical altercations with Richards in early 2022. However, his cousin, Dr. Kathleen McAllister, stated under oath that she witnessed Phypers striking Richards at his health facility. McAllister maintained that Richards sustained a black eye as a result of the attack.

Addressing the court, Phypers asserted he did not hit Richards in the eye, stating, “Definitely not.” Phypers indicated that McAllister was indeed present during the incident. He added that Richards had consumed alcohol and later informed him she had collided with a pole.

Furthermore, Phypers refuted claims of pulling her hair and strangling her during a separate occurrence. When queried about whether he repeatedly struck her head, his response was, “No, I did not.”

Under interrogation, Phypers mentioned that Denise frequently came to his Malibu wellness center, which is now no longer operational.

“Multiple days each week. She utilized it for virtual meetings and other diverse purposes,” he stated. “Her visits were quite regular,” he concluded.

The presiding judge prevented Phypers from responding to inquiries concerning supposed substances he observed Richards consuming. The court determined the query to be “immaterial.”

Phypers disputed assertions presented in court by Richards’ cosmetic artist, Pamela Brogardi. Brogardi alleged she overheard Phypers issuing threats to Richards.

Phypers faced questions regarding statements Richards included in her application for a protective order. He denied making threats to inflict harm on Richards’ legs. His response to the court was, “No. Positively not.”

In response to whether he ever menaced to end Richards’ life, Phypers replied, “No. At no point.” He additionally denied using the derogatory term “whore” towards her on July 4.

“I never addressed her with that term. It is unfounded,” he stated. Phypers similarly refuted her assertion that he removed her hat during a disagreement at her residence.

Richards’ estranged spouse further dismissed allegations that he purloined her portable computer. However, he acknowledged capturing images of content discovered on her laptop, which included purported exchanges with another individual.

Phypers characterized the messages he discovered as “extremely distressing and startling” but denied awakening her to shout. He admitted to confronting her but asserted he did not verbally abuse her as she alleges.

He declared, “I have never referred to her as a derogatory term for a woman … I have indeed called her untruthful, but not that.”

He further stated that he did not strike Richards on her head in the restroom while she was recuperating from an operation in May.

Phypers informed the court he was not responsible for any concussions Richards sustained, nor did he possess any firearms. (Richards had asserted he possessed eight weapons). He denied possessing any ballistic vests. Phypers clarified they were “exercise vests equipped with weights.”

While testifying, Phypers additionally stated he never threatened Richards’ life throughout their relationship and never made threats of self-harm.

The court’s decision regarding Richards’ request for a permanent protective order remains pending.

As Us earlier disclosed, Richards secured a provisional protective order against Phypers on July 16, mere days following his divorce petition.

In her formal filing, Richards claimed, “Aaron would repeatedly and aggressively choke me, forcibly grip my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently strike my face and head, forcefully shove my head against the bathroom towel rack, threaten my life, restrain me by pressing his knee into my back to the extent that I had to beg him to release me to prevent my death, and illicitly access my laptop and phone to extract all my text communications.”

Phypers vehemently refuted every accusation of mistreatment and contended that Richards herself was the source of marital discord.

Phypers had earlier informed Us, “These charges are entirely fabricated and profoundly distressing. Denise and I, akin to numerous relationships, have encountered our difficulties, but any insinuation of abuse is unequivocally false. I have consistently endeavored to manage our marriage with affection, forbearance, and esteem. I request discretion as we navigate private affairs, and I trust that the public and press will abstain from disseminating damaging and unsubstantiated assertions.”
