Prince Andrew Facing Financial Shortfall as Royal Lodge Departure Looms

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor may not receive the financial compensation he anticipated for vacating Royal Lodge.

Recent information indicates that Andrew, 65, was in line to get nearly $728,000 (£558,000) as stipulated in a previous agreement concerning his residency. This situation, however, shifted dramatically when the discredited member of the royal family had his title revoked.

Us understands that the final decision regarding Andrew’s payment rests with the Crown Estate, following an assessment of any work undertaken on the property, which could influence the sum.

The Daily Mail reported that Andrew is likely to be "denied" the majority of this payment, with a royal insider informing the publication that the property requires "a lot of work."

Us Weekly has sought a response from Buckingham Palace.

Why Was Prince Andrew Stripped of His Titles? What Led to the King's Move

Andrew has occupied Royal Lodge, situated in Windsor, without paying rent for 22 years. His lease agreement permitted him to reside there until 2078 and included a clause entitling him to a substantial sum should he relinquish the lease.

Us also comprehends that Andrew will be provided with suitable private funding because he is King Charles III’s brother. Nevertheless, Andrew is expected to identify other sources of income.

Charles, 76, divested Andrew of his princely title on Thursday, October 30, and instructed the controversial royal family member to vacate his residence.

“Prince Andrew will now be referred to as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor,” a statement from Buckingham Palace sent to Us Weekly confirmed. “His lease on Royal Lodge has, until now, offered him legal protection to continue living there.”

The statement revealed that “formal notice” has since been issued to Andrew. Us believes he will relocate to Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

“These punitive measures are deemed essential, despite his ongoing denials of the accusations against him,” last week’s statement read. “Their Majesties wish to make unequivocally clear that their thoughts and profound sympathies have always been, and will continue to be, with the victims and survivors of all forms of abuse.”

Charles’ decision arose as Andrew continued to attract attention due to his association with convicted billionaire sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew’s friendship with the late Epstein first came to light in 2019 when the late Virginia Giuffre made allegations against the former prince.

Giuffre asserted that she and Andrew engaged in sexual acts when she was underage in 2001. Andrew has consistently refuted these claims. Giuffre eventually sued Andrew for sexual abuse in 2021, and they reached an out-of-court settlement the following year.

Queen Elizabeth II Would Have Never Removed Andrew’s Title, Expert Claims

Giuffre passed away by suicide at the age of 41 this past April. Several months later, her memoir, Nobody’s Girl, was published posthumously and contained further allegations against both Andrew and Epstein.

“In the intervening years, I’ve reflected extensively on his conduct,” Giuffre wrote regarding Andrew, in part. “He was cordial enough, yet still presumptuous — as if he believed sexual relations with me were his inherent right.”

Giuffre claimed she had three sexual encounters with Andrew, one of which was an alleged orgy involving Epstein.

“The other young women all seemed to be under 18 and spoke very little English,” Giuffre wrote. “Epstein reportedly joked about their inability to communicate effectively, saying they were the easiest girls to get along with.”
