Prince Andrew Under Scrutiny for Allegedly Directing Security to Investigate Virginia Giuffre
Reports indicate that Prince Andrew is under investigation, drawing ongoing media attention due to his enduring connection with the deceased convicted pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.
Multiple news sources on Sunday, October 19, stated that Andrew, aged 65, is facing scrutiny for purportedly directing his publicly-funded security team to gather intelligence on his deceased accuser, Virginia Giuffre, just before the controversial 2011 photograph of the royal with a then-minor Giuffre became public.
Purported email communications between Andrew and one of his security personnel appear to indicate that Andrew provided Giuffre’s social security number and birthdate.
Additionally, on Sunday, the Mail published alleged emails between Andrew and Queen Elizabeth’s former deputy press secretary Ed Perkins, where the ex-Duke of York mentioned instructing a security officer to investigate Giuffre. However, The Guardian reported the same day that the officer seemingly never acted on this directive.
Us Weekly sought a statement from Buckingham Palace regarding the matter.

Giuffre, who publicly alleged in a 2021 lawsuit that Andrew sexually assaulted her during her teenage years, passed away by suicide in April 2025. Andrew has consistently refuted these accusations. Before her passing, Giuffre reached an out-of-court settlement with Andrew for an unspecified sum.
Her family announced in an April 25 statement that “Giuffre ended her life by suicide, having been a lifelong survivor of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.” They continued, “Virginia was a formidable advocate in the struggle against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She represented hope for numerous survivors. Despite facing immense challenges throughout her life, she radiated brightly. Her absence will be felt immensely. Her children, Christian, Noah, and Emily, were the greatest joys of her life.”
The statement went on to say, “It was upon cradling her infant daughter that Virginia understood her need to confront those who had exploited her and countless others.” It concluded, “No words can convey the profound sorrow we experience today with the departure of our dear Virginia. She was valiant and will forever be cherished for her extraordinary bravery and affectionate nature. Ultimately, the burden of abuse proved too overwhelming for Virginia to bear. We believe she now rests with the angels.”
On Sunday, the Times of London revealed that Prince William plans to exclude his uncle from “all aspects of royal life,” including intimate family occasions, upon his ascension to the throne.
“Once William becomes King, Andrew will be prohibited from all facets of royal existence,” the publication stated, citing internal Buckingham Palace sources. “He will be barred from both public and private royal functions, even the coronation, and prevented from attending the majority of state ceremonies.”
Andrew declared on Friday that he would discontinue using his royal titles, against the backdrop of continuous scrutiny over his association with Epstein.
In a statement released to Us on Friday, Andrew stated, “Following discussions with The King, and my immediate and extended family, we have determined that the persistent allegations concerning me detract from the duties of His Majesty and the Royal Family.” He added, “I have chosen, as has always been my principle, to prioritize my obligation to my family and nation. I reaffirm my choice made five years ago to withdraw from public engagements.”
