Rainn Wilson Sides With Justin Baldoni in Blake Lively Legal Battle
Justin Baldoni reportedly gained textual backing from fellow actor Rainn Wilson, known for his role in The Office, amidst his ongoing legal dispute with his It Ends With Us scene partner, Blake Lively.
Correspondence exchanged on January 5, 2024, within a group conversation involving Baldoni, actor Travis Van Winkle, artist Andy Grammer, and It Ends With Us producer Jamey Heath, revealed Wilson, 59, asserting that Baldoni had been “set up,” as per court filings reviewed by Us Weekly on Friday, November 14. These communications became public after Baldoni’s legal counsel submitted them as part of his defense.
The message thread indicates Wilson inquired about any new developments in the matter. Baldoni, 41, then elaborated on an intense exchange he experienced with Lively’s spouse, Ryan Reynolds, 49.
“Ryan addressed me as if I were a child, delivering a reprimand. They fundamentally stated that Jamey and I misrepresented ourselves and that our continued podcast venture poses a danger by creating a false sense of security,” Baldoni penned.

Baldoni further recounted the ordeal of being labeled as exhibiting “creepy” conduct toward Lively, 38, characterizing it as “among the most challenging evenings I have ever endured.”
“The terms 'creepy' and 'abuse' were directed at my actions. Subsequently, I was instructed on what to utter and compelled to offer an apology, which I found myself incapable of delivering as my mind struggled to process the events. I was stunned, essentially reverting to the sensation of being a seven-year-old upon returning home yesterday evening,” he conveyed. “I was emotionally incapacitated. It was precisely as dire as it appears.”
Within the same messaging exchange, Baldoni conveyed appreciation for the backing he received from the participants in the group discussion.
Wilson’s reply to Baldoni’s message asserted that he had been “deliberately entrapped and confronted unexpectedly.”
“My heavens. This is unbelievable. You were engineered into a predicament, subjected to a surprise attack, and individually assailed. I am aghast. I fully empathize with your state of shock, akin to a deer caught in headlights,” Wilson typed. “It was likely for the best that you did not immediately launch into apologies. I am profoundly thankful that Jamey stands as your associate and was able to intervene judiciously when required.”
Wilson concluded his message with, “Forward, brother. Create a compelling, significant, and engaging narrative. That is your sole path now. My sincerest apologies for your ordeal.”
Us Weekly has sought statements from the publicists representing Wilson, Baldoni, and Lively.
Justin Baldoni Discloses Alleged Blake Lively Communications Regarding Notorious Rooftop Incident
Lively initiated legal action against Baldoni, producer Heath, studio executive Steve Sarowitz, and their public relations team in December 2024. The court proceedings are slated for March 2026.
The contentious legal exchange commenced earlier in December when the actress leveled accusations against her It Ends With Us costar and director, alleging sexual harassment and the orchestration of a defamatory campaign.
Baldoni has refuted every accusation. He then filed a countersuit against Lively and Reynolds in January, charging the pair with extortion and slander. Lively and Reynolds have rejected these claims. A judicial ruling in June led to the dismissal of Baldoni’s action against Lively.
Baldoni and his legal representatives were afforded an opportunity to revise their assertions regarding breach of implied covenant and tortious interference with contract. The presiding judge set a deadline of June 23. Nevertheless, Baldoni ultimately chose not to proceed with these amendments. Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, subsequently clarified that their attention had shifted to invalidating Lively’s initial December 2024 legal complaint.
