Ray J Arrested for Criminal Threatening After Allegedly Brandishing Gun at Princess Love During Live Stream
Reports confirm the apprehension of Ray J on Thursday, November 27, following allegations that he brandished a firearm at his separated spouse, Princess Love, amidst a confrontation broadcast live online.
Us Weekly has verified that the 44-year-old artist known for “I Hit It First” is currently detained in a Los Angeles detention facility, having been taken into custody and charged with suspected criminal threatening. A bond of $50,000 has been established for his release.
Us has contacted Ray J’s publicist seeking a statement.
According to TMZ, Ray J, whose birth name is William Ray Norwood Jr., commenced an Instagram Live session early Thursday, informing his audience that he was experiencing “the absolute worst Thanksgiving imaginable.” Subsequently, he asserted that attempts were being made to remove his children from his care.

Onlookers observed Ray J purportedly retrieving a handgun from a surface — and, shortly thereafter, a distraught Princess, 41, appeared to inform him of her intention to remove their children from the residence. During their televised dispute, Princess reportedly charged her separated partner with “aim[ing] a weapon at us.”
Throughout the live broadcast, Ray J was discernible engaging in arguments with additional individuals, and the sound of sirens was audible in the background as the recording neared its conclusion.
Princess and Ray J united in marriage in August 2016, exchanging vows at the Cathedral of Saint Vibiana within Los Angeles. This past couple are parents to two offspring: their daughter, Melody Love, aged 7, and their son, Epik, aged 5.
Their initial marital period was documented on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, though they have separated and reunited on numerous occasions since 2020.
The proprietor of Prella Beauty Bar initiated divorce proceedings against Ray J at the Los Angeles Superior Court in May 2020 — a mere four months after the birth of their son, Epik, on December 30, 2019. Nevertheless, Us discovered that Princess sought to withdraw her divorce filing in July 2020, a request a judge granted shortly thereafter.
Princess Love last declared her intention to divorce Ray J in February 2024, elucidating then that they had reached the “challenging understanding that their respective journeys had taken different directions.”
“For the benefit of both parties, it is best that we go our separate ways,” she conveyed through Instagram. “We wish to assure you that this choice was reached after careful thought, with reciprocal esteem and concern for each other's welfare. Although our marital bond may be concluding, we are steadfast in our dedication to raising our children together and fostering an affirmative and encouraging family environment.”
An insider informed Us in April 2024 that this most recent separation stood apart from previous ones, as Ray J and Princess had precluded any chance of reconciliation.
“Ray J and Princess have maintained an intermittent relationship for an extended period. Despite their past separations, this instance feels distinctly unlike the others,” a source revealed to Us. “Both are concluding their union with the certainty that they genuinely endeavored to preserve their marriage.”
Back then, Us conveyed that Ray J and Princess held aspirations of preserving an amicable rapport throughout their divorce proceedings.
“Ray J’s mother and father hold Princess in high regard and desire to sustain an excellent connection with her, not merely for the welfare of their grandchildren, but also because Princess will perpetually remain a part of their kin,” the confidant shared with Us. “Ray J looks up to his parents’ marital bond and wishes for a similar dynamic. However, he also seeks a partnership where he experiences contentment and joy.”
Furthermore, Ray J is presently embroiled in legal proceedings against his former partner, Kim Kardashian, and her mother, Kris Jenner. The legal counsel for the Kardashians, Alex Spiro, lodged a defamation suit against Ray J in October, asserting that the family endured “considerable and persistent damage to their personal and professional standing” due to Ray J’s unproven assertions that they were implicated in a federal criminal enterprise probe.
In November, Ray J initiated a countersuit against the Kardashians, stating in his legal document that their disagreement was “not centered on defamation,” but instead concerned “exposure, influence, and retribution.” The legal actions remain active at the time of this report.
