Reality Star Chad Ollinger Accused of Murder in Jail Cell

Chad Ollinger, a prominent figure from Discovery Channel’s Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch, has been formally accused of open murder in connection with the death of his fellow inmate at a Las Vegas correctional facility.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced in a Saturday, December 27, statement that correctional staff within the Clark County Detention Center discovered an inmate deceased inside a cell during a routine check on Friday, December 26.

Ollinger, 41, was subsequently rebooked by police investigators on a charge of open murder. An examination into the cellmate’s passing is currently underway.

Correctional officers “noticed an inmate lying motionless inside of a cell” around 11:20 p.m. local time on Friday, the LVMPD stated in a press release. “Staff entered and observed the inmate displaying apparent injuries from a forceful impact.”

“Officers immediately provided assistance to the victim and requested the response of CCDC medical personnel, but unfortunately, he was declared deceased at the location,” the statement continued.

LVMPD homicide detectives reported that they “determined a physical confrontation occurred between the victim and Ollinger inside of the cell,” leading to Ollinger’s arrest.

Online court documents reviewed by Us Weekly indicate that Ollinger is scheduled to appear in court regarding the open murder charge on Tuesday, December 30.

Ollinger was already being held in custody facing two charges following an arrest on October 27, according to records viewed by Us. Last October, Nevada authorities charged Ollinger with being a fugitive from another state and for disregarding a court order. He is scheduled for a hearing on the first charge on February 5, 2026. Ollinger received a sentence for the disregard of a court order on December 18 and is scheduled for release on that charge on January 12, 2026, according to the online records.

Ollinger was previously apprehended in Texas in November 2024 after allegedly failing to stop at a traffic light in the presence of an unmarked police vehicle, as reported by TMZ at the time.

According to the outlet, Ollinger disregarded a stop light while operating a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Law enforcement officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, which he allegedly refused, resulting in a brief chase.

Per TMZ, Ollinger purportedly attempted to abandon his motorcycle and fled on foot. He was eventually apprehended, arrested, and charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle and evading arrest/detention on foot.

“All I know is this one thing. It was a wild experience until I dismounted that Harley crossbone,” he stated in a message to TMZ after securing bail from a local county jail.
