Reba McEntire Puts Wedding Plans on Hold for Career
Orchestrating an ideal nuptial celebration proves to be a significant challenge for music icon Reba McEntire.
“Organizing the wedding is unfeasible due to our schedules,” McEntire, aged 70, divulged solely to Us Weekly during the 2025 Paley Honors Fall Gala held on Monday, November 10. “Our mindset is, ‘We aim for this month, but should professional commitments arise, we'll prioritize those, and then proceed with the marriage at a subsequent time.’”
The Voice mentor further explained, “Our careers take precedence, to put it simply.”
In September, the esteemed country artist verified her engagement to Rex Linn during her appearance on the red carpet at the 2025 Emmys.

She subsequently disclosed that the heartfelt proposal took place on Christmas Eve, indicating the engagement had been kept private for almost ten months.
“Our intention was to announce it immediately upon engagement, but the fires broke out in Los Angeles. The timing felt inappropriate,” McEntire clarified to Us from The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. “The opportune moment didn't truly emerge until our Emmys attendance. It simply unfolded naturally.”
Within her 2023 publication, Not That Fancy, McEntire recounted her instant bond with Linn, 68, following their initial encounter in 1991 during the filming of The Gambler Returns.
The couple didn't begin their romantic relationship until 2020, after their lives intersected once more on Young Sheldon.
“We formed an immediate connection over our shared residency in Oklahoma and mutual affection for horses and performing,” she penned in her memoir. “He brought me joy, and we evolved into close companions.”
On Monday evening, Linn was present to commend McEntire as she received the Entertainment Icon award. Prior to accepting this distinction, the Happy’s Place starlet pondered the significance of such a title to her personally.
“It's incredibly, profoundly humbling, and it brings me great satisfaction,” she expressed. “I am simply delighted to be here to acknowledge the individuals and the extensive efforts of the Paley Center.”

“They weren't included originally, yet I continue to adore them, and wished to share them,” she stated. “That particular album was never issued on vinyl, so this iteration marks its debut. Vinyl records are currently experiencing significant demand. Both CDs and cassettes are seeing a resurgence. Everyone appreciates them, and I'm ecstatic. I cherish the vintage appeal of vinyl.”
