Redford's Grandchildren Share Heartfelt Tributes and Cherished Memories
Following his passing, the grandchildren of legendary actor Robert Redford expressed heartfelt homages to their grandfather on social media platforms.
Just after he passed away on Tuesday, September 16, at 89 years old, Conor Schlosser, grandson of Redford and son to his daughter Shauna Redford, posted a touching message on Instagram commemorating his renowned grandfather.
Conor, 33, remarked, “Globally, he was an icon, but for his loved ones, he was just…family.” He added, “Rest peacefully, Grandpa. Should anyone have a cherished memory of him they wish to share, kindly send it to me privately—I am eager to gather these stories.”
Conor’s tribute featured several previously unreleased photographs of the actor, showcasing moments such as Robert seated behind Conor on horseback, the star unwrapping a present with a young Conor beside him on a sofa, the pair enjoying golf during Conor’s childhood, and a few more recent pictures of an adult Conor with his grandfather.

Lena Redford, another of Robert’s grandchildren and daughter of the late David James “Jamie” Redford, similarly posted uncommon images of her grandfather on Instagram.
Her initial photograph, much like Conor’s, depicted Robert seated behind Lena, now 29, on a horse, whereas the subsequent image featured her and her brother, Dylan Redford, on what appeared to be a film set under Robert’s direction. Additional pictures included a nostalgic shot of Robert warmly embracing a smiling Lena, a photograph of Lena alongside Robert and his wife, Sibylle Szaggars Redford, and one capturing her with both her father and Robert.
The acclaimed Oscar-winning actor and director passed away at his Utah residence on Tuesday, as confirmed in a statement to The New York Times by his publicist, Cindi Berger. His representative verified that his death occurred peacefully in his sleep, though a precise cause was not disclosed.
Robert first garnered recognition for his Broadway role in Barefoot in the Park, which was later adapted into a 1967 film co-starring Jane Fonda. His profile significantly rose after portraying the Sundance Kid in the 1969 movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. During the 1970s and 1980s, Robert featured prominently in numerous movies, such as 1973’s The Way We Were, 1974’s The Great Gatsby, 1980’s Brubaker, and 1984’s The Natural.
