RHOP's Wendy Osefo and Husband Eddie Charged with Insurance Fraud After Alleged Stolen Handbag and Jewelry Claims
The Real Housewives of Potomac personality Dr. Wendy Osefo and her spouse, Eddie Osefo, have issued a statement through their representative following their apprehension and formal charging with fraud.
“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and are in good spirits. They are thankful for the considerable outpouring of concern and encouragement from their friends, supporters, and colleagues,” a spokesperson for the couple informed Us Weekly on Friday, October 10. “The Osefos, in conjunction with their legal counsel, anticipate their upcoming court appearance. At this juncture, they respectfully request privacy as they concentrate on their family and the legal proceedings ahead.”
According to judicial records obtained by Us Weekly, a grand jury formally charged both Wendy and Eddie on Thursday, October 9, with insurance deception, conspiracy to commit insurance deception, and providing a false statement to a law enforcement officer.
The pair was processed in Westminster, Maryland, and their bail was fixed at $50,000. They were released on Friday.

As per police reports, both Wendy and Eddie asserted that designer handbags and jewelry were missing from their bedroom during an alleged April 2024 burglary. However, Wendy was reportedly seen wearing one of the purportedly stolen diamond rings in a later online post.
A police investigation determined that other items they claimed were stolen had been purchased and returned to their respective stores “where a full reimbursement was provided prior to the alleged burglary.”
Prosecutors allege the couple filed a claim for a personal property loss of $450,000 through an insurance provider. Us Weekly has sought comment on the matter.
Wendy joined The Real Housewives of Potomac at the commencement of season 5 in 2020. The political analyst and academic frequently reminded her fellow cast members that she holds four academic qualifications.
According to her official site, Wendy became the first Black woman to achieve a PhD from Rutgers University in Public-Affairs Community Development.
When she wasn’t embroiled in disputes with her costars, Wendy would often display aspects of her family life with Eddie and their three offspring.
In August, the pair marked 14 years of marriage with a vacation to a tropical destination, away from Maryland.
“We performed the necessary work, and with faith, God has handled the rest,” Wendy posted via Instagram on August 20, acknowledging the significant milestone. “We have established an existence that will endure beyond us, and for this, I am perpetually thankful. If granted the choice, I would select you in this lifetime and again in the next. I am blessed to call you my closest friend and honored to carry your surname.”
Eddie also shared, “Happy Wedding Anniversary to my dearest friend, companion for life, unpaid counselor, chief supporter, and all things in between. I cannot envision navigating this existence without you, and these past FOURTEEN years have been an absolute gift.”

On October 5, The Real Housewives of Potomac launched its 10th season. During one of the initial scenes, Wendy joined her costars Gizelle Bryant, Ashley Darby, Stacey Rusch and Keiarna Stewart to discuss Karen Huger’s legal predicament.
While Wendy acknowledged her share of conflicts with Karen, 62, the host of The Dr. Wendy Show expressed empathy for her co-star being incarcerated subsequent to a DUI conviction.
“For me, the most distressing part is how immediate it was. She was apprehended without delay,” Wendy clarified. “How does one cope with that? Was she aware? Was she ready for it? Despite our disagreements with Karen, deep down, she was once a friend, and I wish her well.”
