RHOP's Wendy Osefo's burglary claims resurface amid fraud arrest
Past statements made by Wendy Osefo from The Real Housewives of Potomac regarding a supposed burglary have come to light again following her and her husband Eddie Osefo’s arrest for fraud.
“I believe it occurred just prior to [filming], right before production began,” stated Osefo, 41, during a September 2024 episode of the “Gabbing With Gib” podcast. “My family was out of town for spring break when it happened. We were on our spring break vacation with the children, and I was utterly devastated.”
Osefo expressed feeling “apprehensive” during her initial appearances on the Bravo series, attributing this discomfort to the repercussions of the alleged April 2024 break-in.
“Our home had essentially been breached,” she added. “It was a terrible experience and completely unforeseen, particularly as both I and the investigators believed it was a targeted incident.”

Osefo clarified that she had resided in her community “for an extended period,” noting that no crimes had been reported there prior to this incident.
“For more than two decades, there had been no break-ins, absolutely nothing,” she asserted. “It’s incredibly distressing, and returning to my earlier point, motherhood is what truly defines me. My immediate concern was for my children.”
Osefo stated that her primary motivation for choosing that particular neighborhood was her three offspring. (Wendy and Eddie are parents to Karter, 12, Kruz, 10, and Kamrynn, 6.)
“My residence is chosen for their security, allowing them abundant space to run, play, and thrive, unhindered,” she articulated. “When an intruder enters your home, which is such a personal sanctuary, and violates it in that manner, it makes you re-evaluate everything.”
Osefo mentioned her gratitude that her family remained “unharmed” and could “progress” past the “deeply upsetting” event. The television personality further stated her intention to implement increased safety measures going forward.
“My home is now essentially a fortress … our approach to vacations has changed, as has my social media activity,” she asserted. “It has modified my lifestyle; you wish to be carefree and believe you aren't under surveillance. One desires to live uninhibitedly, but sadly, that isn't feasible, so many aspects have shifted.”
On Thursday, October 9, a grand jury charged Osefo and her husband with insurance fraud, conspiring to commit insurance fraud, and providing a false statement to law enforcement. As per court papers acquired by Us Weekly, the couple was processed in Westminster, Maryland, and had bail fixed at $50,000. Eddie and Wendy were freed the following day, Friday, October 10.
Osefo and her husband had previously informed authorities that luxury handbags and precious adornments had vanished from their sleeping quarters during an alleged April 2024 break-in. The reality star was purportedly spotted adorning one of the purportedly pilfered jewelry items in a subsequent social media update.

An inquiry revealed that additional possessions Osefo and her spouse reported as missing had been acquired and subsequently returned to their original retailers, “with a complete reimbursement issued before the supposed theft.” Prosecutors contended that the pair reported a personal property loss totaling $450,000 through an insurer.
Osefo and her husband issued a public announcement through their representative once reports of their apprehension circulated.
“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, have returned home securely to their loved ones and are in positive spirits. They appreciate the immense show of concern and encouragement from acquaintances, admirers, and professional associates,” a spokesperson for the couple informed Us Weekly on Friday. “The Osefos, with their legal counsel, anticipate their court appearance. For now, they respectfully request discretion as they prioritize their family and the impending legal proceedings.”
