Rob Reiner and Wife Michele Found Dead in Homicide Investigation

The family of Rob Reiner and his spouse, Michele Reiner, have released a statement following the couple’s passing.

According to a report published by Variety in the late hours of Sunday, December 14, the family shared a statement after Rob and Michele died inside their Los Angeles residence earlier that day.

“It is with deep sadness that we confirm the tragic deaths of Michele and Rob Reiner,” a family representative said in a statement shared with the publication. “Our hearts are broken by this unforeseen tragedy, and we request privacy during this extraordinarily challenging period.”

TMZ initially reported on Sunday that the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the couple’s Brentwood home “for medical assistance,” discovering a man aged 78 and a woman approximately 68 years old. Us Weekly later corroborated that evening that both individuals were “pronounced dead at the location.”

The deceased were subsequently identified as Rob and Michele.

Us Weekly made contact with the LAPD seeking an official response.

A press briefing conducted by the LAPD on Sunday evening, detailed by Deadline, provided additional information. According to the publication, Deputy Chief Alan S. Hamilton declared that the LAPD “is presently carrying out an active homicide inquiry regarding the two deaths at Rob Reiner’s Brentwood residence.”

Hamilton also noted that the LAPD “has yet to identify a suspect” and is not tracking any specific individuals in connection with the crime. Nevertheless, the briefing did verify that the pair were discovered having died “from evident stab wounds.”

The publication also mentioned that Hamilton “refrained from designating the probe as a first-degree murder case.” Instead, the Deputy Chief referred to the incident as a “death investigation” and explained that the department’s “Robbery-Homicide Division” was managing the process.

Rob’s expansive filmography includes major directing credits such as When Harry Met Sally, This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, Stand By Me, A Few Good Men, and Misery. He also gained recognition as an actor, appearing in movies like The First Wives Club and The Wolf of Wall Street.

Additionally, Rob was featured in numerous celebrated television programs: as a main cast member in All in the Family and a guest on The Bear and New Girl. He made cameo appearances as himself in series like 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Simpsons, and The Larry Sanders Show.
