Katie Maloney Describes Awkward Tom Sandoval Encounter as a 'Slightly Aggressive Act’

“I glanced to my left and there weren’t a large number of people, but there were enough to create a fairly intimate atmosphere. I looked over and Tom Sandoval was dressed up as Fred Durst,” Katie shared on her “Disrespectfully” podcast in September 2024, revealing she last saw Sandoval at a Limp Bizkit show. “Usually, he’s wearing a black TomTom hat, but this time he had a red one. He selected the red hat for the evening.”

According to Katie, she didn’t even attempt to acknowledge Sandoval.

“[We] disregard them. My focus needs to be over here regardless,” she remarked. “I don’t need to look over there. I keep my attention in this direction. At one point, I was looking to my left and from the corner of my eye, I noticed [Sandoval and girlfriend Victoria Robinson] waving at me. It felt a little bit like a deliberate provocation.”

Katie added, “It didn’t really disrupt anything, but we could have done without it. I wasn’t paying attention. I wasn’t involved.”

Katie had attended the concert with fellow show personality Dayna Kathan, who considered the near-interaction “clearly uncomfortable.”

“We were invited as guests of the band, and I wasn’t going to cause a disturbance. I wasn’t going to start a fight there,” Dayna, 35, explained at the time. “I could have lived without it. All I can say is that it gave off some really hostile energy from them. The atmosphere was strange. It seemed like they were trying to assert their presence and say, ‘We are here. We don't care about your feelings.’”
