Sarah Paulson Honors Late Diane Keaton with Tattoo and Heartfelt Tribute
Sarah Paulson is honoring Diane Keaton on what would have marked the late actress’s 80th birthday.
“You would have turned 80 today,” Paulson, 51, wrote on Instagram Monday, January 5. “There are so many deep emotions to express here… I was incredibly fortunate to have shared experiences, laughed until we were crying, watched countless films, truly cried, and enjoyed French fries with you. You. You. Wonderful, unique, YOU. I will miss you for all time.”
Alongside the message, Paulson posted a silhouette photograph and another image displaying a tattoo of the initials “DK” on her arm.
“Thank you @winterstone for my lasting reminder, of one of my most cherished people,” Paulson wrote, tagging the tattoo artist.
The tattoo artist then shared a photo alongside Paulson, offering another view of her tattoo in remembrance of Keaton.
“@mssarahcatharinepaulson you are an amazing friend!” @winterstone wrote on Instagram Monday. “The devotion you showed to your loved ones during a time of immense sorrow was truly remarkable! I’m so glad I was able to share that moment with you! Sending love!”
Text superimposed on the video read, “Rest peacefully DK! And happy heavenly birthday! Sending affection to all who loved her!”
News emerged in October 2025 that Keaton passed away following a bacterial pneumonia infection. She was 79. Shortly after, Paulson described her grief over Keaton’s passing as “a profoundly difficult period.”
Sarah Paulson Reveals Private Communications From Diane Keaton Before Her Passing
“I can’t articulate it in a way that does it justice other than to say that for everything you knew and admired about her as a performer, she was even more so as a friend,” she told The Hollywood Reporter at the premiere of All’s Fair in October 2025.
In a separate interview with Access Hollywood, Paulson stated that she was “the luckiest person in the world to have had [Keaton] in my life in the way that I did.”
Two months later, Paulson — who first met Keaton while working on the 1999 film The Other Sister — revealed some of the emails and texts she received from the late actress prior to her death.
“Sarah, I dislike your phone,” Paulson shared at the Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment gala in December 2025, quoting one of the messages. “It’s constantly full, and I can never leave a message. Fool, what is your address? Hurry home, silly idiot. Di.”
Inside Sarah Paulson and Late Diane Keaton's Friendship Through the Years
Keaton wrote in another message, “Listen, I need to know everything that’s happening with you – your career, your love life, your fing house. When are you free? Love you, darling. Keep me informed on developments. Diane, one of your friends.”
Paulson became visibly emotional as she shared a message she wished she could send to Keaton.
“Dear blockhead, I want to tell you I’m sorry that my voicemail was always full,” Paulson said while wiping away tears. “I want to tell you I’m sorry I wasn’t available every time you called me. I want to tell you how much worse the world is without you in it. I want to tell you everything that happened in my life in the 54 days since you’ve been gone.”
Paulson continued, “I want to tell you how the world was devastated with grief the day you died. And I want to tell you I will miss you forever, and I continue to be a blockhead, and I know that you would be pleased to know that. But most of all, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for being my friend. Sarah Paulson, actress. Please call.”
