Sasha Farber Says He and Ex Emma Slater Are Now Just Friends, Wishes Her and Alan Bersten Well

Dancing With the Stars’ Sasha Farber shares his current perspective on his former wife Emma Slater and her partner, Alan Bersten.

"We maintain a close bond," the 41-year-old Farber stated about 36-year-old Slater in a conversation featured on E! The Rundown's official TikTok on Wednesday, November 19. "Honestly, we're simply friends. I prefer to avoid any animosity. I'm grateful for the amazing years and countless memories we shared, traveling the globe together. Life happens, and sometimes relationships don't last, so we've both moved forward, wishing each other nothing but the best."

When queried about whether past romantic partners found his continued collaboration with Slater on DWTS "unusual," Farber confirmed, "I'm certain," adding that "they have indeed" voiced such sentiments.

"I clarify to them that there's absolutely no chance of anything romantic occurring between us. Do we desire good outcomes for one another? Absolutely," Farber elaborated. "Her correspondence still arrives at my address, and she visited recently. I no longer perceive her as my former spouse; instead, I view her purely as a friend."

Farber emphasized the importance of maintaining a mature perspective on their circumstances.

"Ultimately, everyone experiences challenges," he commented. "We all endure hurt. We all experience pain. I believe that period is behind us now, so my feeling is, wish them well."

Upon inquiry regarding whether "them" referred to Bersten, 31, Farber confirmed, "Yes." Farber added that he and Bersten are "certainly not enemies."

Farber proposed to Slater live on DWTS in 2016, and they married two years subsequent to that. By 2023, Farber and Slater had ended their relationship. Their divorce proceedings concluded the next year.

Slater disclosed that their split was due to "the children issue" during a 2023 installment of the "Viall Files" podcast.

"It's a curious situation because I do desire to have children, but I'm unwilling to impede Sasha's journey toward fatherhood, as I'm aware he's prepared for it," she expressed. She elaborated: "I genuinely wish to have children. I'm uncertain why, but I'm still coming to terms with it personally. This isn't a decision I treat lightly, and I wouldn't want to commit to something I'm unsure of, as that's not my nature."

A year subsequently, Us Weekly reported that Slater and Bersten had begun a romantic involvement. The couple publicly confirmed their connection with a kiss during a DWTS tour performance in April. Slater and Bersten later participated in DWTS season 34, where they were paired with comedian Andy Richter and Elaine Hendrix, respectively.

When Slater marked Bersten and Hendrix's advancement to the season 34 final round, Farber conveyed words of encouragement.

"Congratulations, everyone," he posted on Instagram, accompanied by an applause icon. Slater replied, "Thanks, Sash."
