Second Lady's Ring Mystery Solved Amidst Family and Faith Discussions
A representative for Usha Vance has issued a statement regarding the second lady's marital situation, following observations of her without her wedding band.
“Being a mother to three young children, she's often engaged in tasks like washing dishes and bathing kids, which occasionally leads to her forgetting her ring,” a spokesperson for Vance, age 39, conveyed to People in a declaration on Saturday, November 22.
Usha tied the knot with the United States Vice President JD Vance in 2014, and together they have three children: sons Ewan, 8, and Vivek, 5, along with their daughter Mirabel, 3.
From the moment JD, 41, declared his intention to run, acting as then-candidate Donald Trump’s vice-presidential pick for 2024, Usha has consistently offered her unwavering support. In her capacity as second lady, she recently accompanied first lady Melanie Trump to the Camp Lejeune military training facility in North Carolina earlier this week. Images from that event showed Usha not wearing her wedding ring, prompting rumors about the status of her marital union.

Both JD and Usha have refrained from commenting further on the rumors, which initially surfaced in October following the politician's controversial remarks concerning their interfaith partnership. (JD adheres to the Catholic faith, while Usha practices Hinduism.)
“Each couple must establish their own understanding on this matter,” JD commented at a Turning Point USA event held the previous month. “Our approach to this understanding is built on her being my closest confidante. We discuss these topics openly with each other. Consequently, we have chosen to raise our children in the Christian faith. On most Sundays, Usha accompanies me to church. Do I envision that, in time, she might find herself inspired by the same spiritual experience I found in church? Yes, frankly, I do hope for that.”
Although JD expresses a desire for Usha to potentially embrace his religion someday, he stated that he would not be troubled if she opts not to convert.
“Should she choose otherwise, divine doctrine teaches the importance of free will for all, and that poses no issue for me,” he asserted. “These are matters you resolve with your friends, with your loved ones, with the individual you care deeply for. Furthermore, a foundational Christian tenet involves respecting individual autonomy.”
Several months prior, Usha shared insights into their family life during an uncommon interview with Meghan McCain.
“Our marriage likely wouldn't have happened if we hadn't both been aware of our mutual desire to have children,” Usha remarked during the “Citizen McCain” podcast in June. “We each, separately, held a strong interest in having children, so that was never a point of debate. When we got married, it was understood that we would start a family. However, the specific number of children became the point of discussion.”
She continued, “Our initial agreement was, ‘We'll have two, and then we'll assess our feelings.’ I imagined, perhaps, having two children and feeling complete, but I so thoroughly enjoyed having them that I ultimately pushed for a third.”
Usha also disclosed that she and JD feel their family is complete with their three offspring.
“I feel quite content with our family size, though occasionally he considers the possibility of a fourth,” she confessed. “Nonetheless, we'll see what the future holds for that. One should never rule anything out. We genuinely adore our three children, but they are now at an age where they are somewhat more independent.”
