Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Star Chase McWhorter Admits to DUI and Cocaine Possession
Chase McWhorter has finally addressed his arrest for driving under the influence and cocaine possession, which occurred earlier this year.
“It's time to tackle the obvious issue. Since I don't have a public relations representative, I'm just going to speak frankly about this,” stated the 30-year-old star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives in a TikTok video posted on Thursday, December 4. “The stories that surfaced yesterday regarding my incident on July 4 are accurate.”
Court records acquired by Us Weekly on Thursday indicate that McWhorter faced three misdemeanor charges in July. These charges included possessing a controlled substance, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and driving with a suspended or invalid license. He was taken into custody, and his bail was established at $2,500.
Police stopped McWhorter after noticing “a car driven by a male, later identified as [Chase], who couldn't keep a consistent speed and repeatedly swerved out of his lane, nearly hitting the curb,” as detailed in a police report secured by The Sun. Officers “smelled alcohol and noted he had red, glazed eyes and spoke indistinctly” upon approaching McWhorter. Following the reading of his rights, McWhorter “confessed to consuming alcohol at a bar and using cocaine prior to driving.”

“I was stopped by police for intoxicated driving, after consuming substances I should not have, and then operating a vehicle,” McWhorter further explained on Thursday. “It was an incredibly reckless, self-centered, and hazardous choice. And I commend the officer for contributing to road safety, as the outcome could have been far more severe.”
McWhorter detailed that earlier that day, he had been at a “pool party” at a friend's residence. Although he intended to remain there throughout the day, he departed prematurely after “an altercation occurred.” He made the choice to leave, believing his home was “only a few miles away,” to “sleep off” his intoxicated condition.
“I should have called an Uber, but for some reason, I opted to drive myself home, and that kind of decision tragically takes lives daily,” he confessed. “I fully grasp how serious this is. Clearly, being pulled over and arrested was a profoundly humiliating experience. It presents a very negative image of me.”
Chase revealed that he informed his ex-wife, Miranda McWhorter, about the incident. (The couple was wed from 2017 until 2024 and are parents to Brooks, 6, and Cohen, 4.)
“Regrettably, I have let [Miranda] down on multiple occasions during our acquaintance, both as her spouse and currently as a coparent,” he stated. “That's truly unfortunate.”

Chase further articulated his remorse for making a “terrible choice” that had the potential to place others in “grave peril.” He is also collaborating with legal counsel to address the repercussions of his behavior.
“I profoundly regret the choice I made, and I apologize for the perception it creates, and to everyone who was on the road that day, as such actions are clearly how individuals lose their lives,” he mused. “I am immensely sorry for the entire situation and have let down almost everyone in my circle because of that decision, and I am confronting those ramifications in addition to any legal outcomes. Therefore, I offer my apologies; I wanted you to hear directly from me that this indeed occurred, and it will not be repeated. My apologies.”
Chase has made several appearances on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, given Miranda's role as a star in the Hulu production.
