Southern Charm Star Olivia Flowers Calls Off Wedding to Fiancé Alex Williams But They Remain Together
Olivia Flowers, known from Southern Charm, has cancelled her upcoming nuptials with her fiancé Alex Williams.
A statement, released on Tuesday, October 14, through Cabine Creative and Flowers’ Instagram, confirmed: “Following extensive consideration and numerous candid discussions, Olivia and her fiancé Alex have reached the challenging conclusion to postpone their wedding plans indefinitely.” It further clarified, “This resolution was not taken without serious deliberation, but rather stems from a foundation of reciprocal regard and affection.”
The announcement noted that this outcome was not what Flowers, 33, and Williams, 35, had “initially anticipated,” and expressed their “deep gratitude for the affection and encouragement from their loved ones.” Despite the termination of their engagement, Flowers and Williams intend to continue their relationship.
The message went on to state, “Alex and Olivia maintain their devotion to one another, fortified by a fresh perspective, resilience, and a deep understanding of the importance of heeding one’s true feelings.” It concluded, “She is very thankful for your understanding and compassion as they navigate this change side-by-side.”
Olivia Flowers of Southern Charm Marks One-Year Anniversary With Boyfriend
The couple, Flowers and Williams, first encountered each other at a Texas wedding and started their relationship in May 2023.
“Upon my delayed arrival at a wedding (and stumbling up the church steps), I was greeted by an attractive usher who escorted me to my seat,” Flowers recounted on Instagram in May 2024, reflecting on their first anniversary. “Subsequently, that same usher requested permission from my accompanying partner (my father) to dance with me... One year on, we continue to dance (and occasionally trip on stairs). Here’s to our profound bond.”
Flowers revealed in October 2024 that Williams had proposed to her the month prior, leading to their engagement.
She captioned a collection of Instagram photos from the proposal, stating, “‘Engagement pictures are cliché.’ — My opinion … a week ago.” Flowers added, “It was flawless. I appreciate everyone for this memorable PROPOSAL… SERIOUSLY?! I love you, particularly you, Alexander.”
Just two months subsequent, Flowers confessed to Us Weekly that organizing the wedding had felt “overpowering.”
“For the time being, we’re simply enjoying the joy of being engaged,” Flowers elaborated in December 2024, noting that she had “only just begun to tackle” the necessary preparations.
Prior to her relationship with Williams, Flowers was romantically involved with her Southern Charm costar Austen Kroll. Flowers became part of the Bravo program in its eighth season, and her subsequent season heavily featured her separation from Kroll, 38. Besides her split from Kroll, Flowers also experienced conflict with Taylor Ann Green. Kroll acknowledged having kissed Green, 30, during a period when he was still communicating with Flowers. After this admission, Green and Flowers ended their friendship.
Flowers departed the series after season 9. She had previously suggested that her leaving was not entirely her own decision.
Taylor Ann Green of Southern Charm Provides Insight Into Her Friendship With Olivia Flowers
During a July 2024 installment of the “Scheananigans with Scheana Shay” podcast, she remarked, “I am in a new relationship and opting for an alternative direction.” She continued, “However, I received a call from the production company several weeks prior to filming. They were essentially posing questions such as, ‘It appears you’re not spending much time in Charleston.’”
Flowers and Green subsequently disclosed that they appeared to have resolved their differences, though their bond as friends had not returned to its previous state.
“We haven’t spent a significant amount of time together,” Flowers informed Us regarding her relationship with Green in December 2024, adding that they both agree that “should an opportunity arise to reconnect, they would.”
