Spencer Lofranco's Canadian Roots

On October 18, 1992, the actor was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to his father Rocco (Rocky) C. Lofranco and his mother Amy Lofranco, an accomplished opera singer. He and his brother, Santino Lofranco, grew up in Thornhill, Ontario, before Spencer attended military school from ninth to twelfth grade.

During his formative years, Spencer developed an early interest in acting, often accompanying his mother to auditions.

“My mother, during her youth, was a dancer, an opera singer, and she also pursued acting. As a child, she would occasionally bring me to auditions, where I'd wait in the lobby with her,” Spencer recounted in a January 2014 Interview magazine feature. “My father, however, envisioned a different path for me; he hoped I would become a hockey player and then a lawyer. That particular trajectory didn't materialize.”

Spencer revealed that he didn't fully commit to the idea of acting until he reached “17 years of age.”

“I consistently aimed to be humorous, to entertain others, and to be the focal point,” he conveyed to the publication. “In retrospect, I believe I was performing as an actor throughout my life. I eventually understood what I was doing, which often led to trouble. I enrolled in summer acting courses, followed by a year-long conservatory at the New York Film Academy, and that's when I secured my role in Jamesy Boy.”

“My ambition is to participate in authentic, unvarnished films,” he informed Interview magazine in January 2014. “I wish to avoid any projects that could potentially harm my professional standing. I strive to be discerning in my selections. Among the actors whose career decisions I admire are Sean Penn, Leonardo DiCaprio, and River Phoenix.”

‘Gotti’ Marked Spencer Lofranco’s Last Onscreen Appearance with John Travolta

The 2018 biographical crime drama Gotti was Spencer’s final movie, where he acted alongside a cast including John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Pruitt Taylor Vince, William DeMeo, Leo Rossi, Chris Kerson, Stacy Keach, and Chris Mulkey.

Drawing from actual events, Gotti chronicles the rise of New York City mob figure John Gotti (portrayed by Travolta) within the Gambino crime family. Spencer took on the character of Travolta’s cinematic son, John “Junior” Gotti.

Spencer Lofranco Faced a Prior Misdemeanor Conviction for a Hit-and-Run Incident

August 2013 saw Spencer collide with bicyclist Camille Banham while driving his SUV. According to CBS News, she sustained serious injuries, such as a fractured hip and several other breaks.

Authorities stated that Spencer exited his vehicle and offered an apology to Banham, then subsequently left the site of the collision.

During a May 2015 sentencing hearing, Camille Banham reportedly told the court, as reported by CBS News, “I once referred to what occurred as an accident, and it would have been an accident if Spencer had remained and assisted me after exiting his car and seeing me hurt at the roadside, but instead, he opted to abandon me.”

In light of Banham’s testimony, the presiding judge escalated Spencer’s penalty from 10 days of community service to 50 days, in addition to imposing two years of probation and requiring $161,000 in financial compensation.

Although Spencer’s charge was reclassified as a misdemeanor, his defense counsel, Michael Levin, indicated that the event caused the actor significant distress.

“It was merely an accident,” Levin stated to CBS News then. “The actual offense was failing to provide his identification at the site. That action did not cause her injuries, and for that reason, one should focus less on the injuries themselves and more on what transpired afterward, and what happened afterward does not portray him as a villain.”

Spencer Lofranco Experienced Homelessness While Residing in Los Angeles

During a June 2018 YouTube upload, Spencer disclosed that he was without a permanent home and was living on the Venice boardwalk alongside his dog.

“I create art here,” Spencer explained to YouTuber Brennen Taylor, further stating that while he enjoyed the location, “you are completely visible because people are constantly passing by” his area. “There is an absolute lack of privacy. It's akin to inhabiting a dwelling made entirely of glass.”
