Stars Like Chrissy Teigen and Joe Manganiello Reveal Their Correct Name Pronunciations
Chrissy Teigen, Joe Manganiello and several other prominent Hollywood figures have recently disclosed that their names have been pronounced incorrectly for a significant portion of their careers.
In September 2018, the bestselling author of the Cravings cookbooks took to Twitter to clarify that her surname is pronounced “tie-gen,” not “tee-gan.” When questioned about her previous reluctance to correct anyone, Teigen offered a witty response.
“I never bother to set people straight, ever,” she stated at the time. “They could call me Janet, and I wouldn’t intervene. If my food order is incorrect, I’ll still consume it. Should a taxi head to the wrong airport, I’d simply rebook my flight."
Teigen is not the sole public figure to unveil the proper articulation of their designation. The former star of True Blood had earlier demonstrated the pronunciation of his challenging surname in a Just Jared clip from 2014.
“Hello, I’m Joe Mang-I-Nello,” he articulated, reiterating the phrase multiple times to guide viewers in accurately pronouncing his distinctive appellation. The sibling of the How I Met Your Mother cast member, Nick Manganiello, was also featured in the footage. The brothers were then inquired about the most egregious mispronunciation of their surname.
“Far too many to enumerate,” remarked the former star of One Tree Hill. “I suppose it's likely those who insert Rs, rendering it ‘Manga-Relo.’”
Joe’s sibling observed that some individuals articulate the name with a 'J' sound rather than a 'G', mentioning that he has encountered renditions such as “Manga-jello” and “Man-jello.”
“You’ve omitted, roughly, ten letters there, pal,” the Magic Mike XXL actor playfully commented.
