Steve Martin Mourns "Loved" Diane Keaton with "Annie Hall" Echo
Renowned actor Steve Martin has expressed his sentiments following the passing of his Father of the Bride co-star, Diane Keaton.
"Loved!" exclaimed Martin, aged 80, in a post on X on Saturday, October 11, accompanying a vintage black and white picture of a youthful Keaton, whose demise at 79 years old was confirmed earlier that same day.
Additionally, Martin quoted one of Keaton's memorable lines from her 1977 movie Annie Hall: "La dee da, la dee da."
Keaton passed away in California, as confirmed by a family representative to People on Saturday. The publication reported that further details regarding the esteemed actress's passing are currently unavailable. Her relatives have "requested privacy" during this period.

Martin and Keaton famously portrayed the marital duo George Stanley Banks and Nina Banks, parents to Annie Banks (Kimberly Williams-Paisley), in the 1991 hit Father of the Bride and its 1995 follow-up, Father of the Bride Part II. The ensemble, also featuring talents such as Martin Short, Kieran Culkin, George Newbern, among others, reconvened in 2020 for a unique gathering titled Father of the Bride Part 3 (ish), broadcast on Netflix's YouTube and Facebook platforms.
Williams-Paisley, aged 54, similarly responded to Keaton's passing in the comments section of People's Instagram announcement.
"This deeply saddens me. Collaborating with Diane Keaton will forever remain a cherished memory of my career," she commented.
The initial Father of the Bride movie depicted Annie's preparations for her marriage to fiancé Bryan MacKenzie (Newbern), while George grappled with the reality of his daughter reaching adulthood. In the subsequent film, Annie disclosed her pregnancy to her family — coinciding with her mother, Nina, also expecting.
The special reunion event — which supported World Central Kitchen, a charity delivering food to youngsters and households affected by natural calamities, conflicts, and various crises — offered viewers a glimpse into the Banks family's current lives. George and Nina's son, Matty (Culkin), wed his fiancée through Zoom after embarking on a career as a comedy writer, while George savored his retirement.
In 2022, Keaton revealed exclusively to Us her thoughts on potentially revisiting her character, Nina.

"No proposition has been put forth. However, should it materialize, absolutely," she stated. "I would certainly take part."
Keaton further commented, "Steven, Marty, well, they currently have their television series [Only Murders in the Building]. They are colossal talents, simply superb actors, humorous, intelligent, and so forth. That's common knowledge, and their dynamic truly succeeds. Their execution on television is quite extraordinary."
Keaton additionally confirmed that she had not viewed HBO Max's 2022 Father of the Bride remake, featuring Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan.
"I have not seen the reimagining of Father of the Bride," she informed Us.
Regarding her aspirations for forthcoming endeavors, Keaton expressed, "I'd embrace a greater variety of whatever opportunities present themselves. I'm uncertain what will come my way. Perhaps nothing will. I've been incredibly fortunate, and thus I'm hesitant to dismiss any prospect without thoroughly assessing whether it's something I could or should pursue. I wouldn't rule out anything unless I encountered a script or role that genuinely felt unsuitable for me, something of that nature. That simply wouldn't be beneficial for my approach."
