Sussexes Share Magical Disneyland Memories Reliving Childhood Joys with Archie and Lilibet

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, recently reflected on their nostalgic Disneyland experiences from youth and the joy of visiting the park with their own children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, this past year.

Their participation in ABC’s special broadcast, The Happiest Story on Earth: 70 Years of Disneyland – Special Edition of 20/20, which aired on September 21, provided insights into their family’s excursion to Disneyland in June, celebrating Lili’s fourth birthday.

Meghan, 44, described the experience of witnessing the iconic Disney theme park "through your children's eyes" as "extraordinary," stirring her own youthful recollections of the beloved Anaheim, California attraction.

"It possesses such an enchanting quality," Meghan stated. "As a native of Southern California, visiting Disneyland is considerably easier for me than for many others, yet it remains the most wonderful indulgence globally."

Meghan, an L.A. upbringing, further elaborated, "Among my most memorable Disneyland experiences was attending grad night. This event is exclusively for high school seniors, held after closing, in the dark… I'm puzzled as to why they permitted such an activity! It was incredibly enjoyable!"

"I ought to partake in that," Harry, 41, remarked, humorously adding, "Is it permissible to attend in one's forties?"

Harry recounted his personal recollections of a 1993 visit to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, accompanied by his beloved late mother, Princess Diana, and his brother, Prince William.

"I recall being utterly captivated by all the characters as a child. Absolutely thrilled! 'This is incredible,'" Harry recounted. "Space Mountain stood out as one of my top attractions."

"It remains one of your preferred rides, incidentally," Meghan gently prompted Harry, who then mentioned he had ridden it "likely 10, maybe 12 times."

The delighted parents had the chance to relive one of Harry’s cherished childhood moments during their visit with Archie, 6, and Lili; images and footage released by Meghan in June illustrate the family’s enjoyment on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Harry had previously experienced an earlier incarnation of this attraction, then called Splash Mountain, with his mother and brother in 1993.

"For us to revisit our personal childhood memories and then witness them unfold through our daughter's birthday… Archie inquired, 'When is my birthday?'" Meghan shared regarding their recent excursion.

Harry further stated, "Observing the children wholeheartedly embrace these experiences, completely unaware of what awaited them, was remarkable. It reignites the childlike wonder within you."

Meghan captured Lili’s Disneyland birthday escapade on Instagram that June. Accompanied by Peggy Lee’s "It's a Good Day," a video montage showcased photographs of the family strolling the park adorned in Mickey Mouse ear hats, Lili’s encounter with Frozen’s Elsa, and her Little Mermaid-themed birthday confection.

"We extend our gratitude to @disneyland for providing our family with two days of unadulterated happiness!" was her caption for the social media update.
