Swift and Jackman Witnessed Reynolds Confront Baldoni Over Lively's Weight Amidst Legal Battle

Fresh legal filings indicate that Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman reportedly observed Ryan Reynolds challenging Justin Baldoni regarding the director’s conduct toward Blake Lively during the filming of It Ends With Us.

As reported by People on Thursday, November 27, an unsealed document from the continuous legal dispute involving Baldoni, 41, and Lively, 38, contained a chronological account that Jamey Heath, Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios co-founder, supposedly dispatched to the director's public relations representative in July 2024.

The timeline details that Reynolds, 49, “confronted” Baldoni intensely at Reynolds' New York City penthouse on April 25, 2023, concerning an alleged inquiry about Lively’s body weight. The Deadpool star voiced grievances about Baldoni “criticizing Blake's weight,” following which Baldoni reportedly experienced “profound embarrassment, offered apologies, and even shed some tears,” as stated in the legal filing.

Baldoni’s legal team asserted that “the encounter initiated by Reynolds and Lively was so forceful that Baldoni believed he had no alternative but to deliver multiple (and entirely uncalled-for) apologies.”

Taylor Swift's Unintentional Involvement in Blake Lively's Legal Battle with Justin Baldoni

The legal document explicitly notes that Swift, 35, and Jackman, 57, — established acquaintances of Reynolds and Lively — were “also present within the [residence] during that incident.”

Us Weekly has sought statements from the individuals referenced in these recent legal filings.

In February, TMZ earlier quoted an insider familiar with the events, who stated that Swift appeared at Lively and Reynolds’ penthouse unaware of the couple’s planned meeting with Baldoni.

“Justin was in the process of departing after the two-hour discussion when Taylor entered, and she was introduced to him for what would be their sole encounter,” the source informed TMZ.

The source stated that Swift supposedly conveyed her enthusiasm for It Ends With Us to Baldoni “given that he was her friend's employer.”

Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment, retaliatory actions, contractual breach, intentional infliction of emotional distress, privacy violation, and foregone earnings. Baldoni has refuted every claim made by Lively — and initiated a countersuit in January, which was subsequently rejected.

Within her legal complaint, Lively claimed that Baldoni employed “indirect methods to critique her physique and size” during the production of It Ends With Us.

The actress’s legal representatives asserted in her lawsuit that “Lively felt shamed upon discovering that Mr. Baldoni covertly contacted her fitness coach without her consent or awareness, suggesting he desired her to reduce her weight within a fortnight.”

Baldoni’s attorneys subsequently argued that his contact with Lively’s trainer was solely due to a scene in It Ends With Us requiring him to lift her — and his reported concern about exacerbating an existing back ailment.

Concurrently, Swift has consistently endeavored to disassociate herself from the proceedings. Previously, Baldoni’s legal team disclosed a text message sent by the director to Lively, which mentioned Swift in relation to It Ends With Us’ well-known rooftop sequence.

“Today I was developing the rooftop sequence, and I truly appreciate your contribution. It genuinely assists [sic] significantly,” he reportedly penned. “It makes it vastly more enjoyable and compelling. (And my sentiment would be the same even without Ryan and Taylor). Your talent spans every aspect. Truly thrilled and [sic] thankful for this collaboration.”

Upon Swift being officially served a subpoena by Baldoni’s legal representatives in May, her publicist affirmed that the vocalist “never stepped onto the film set of” It Ends With Us, nor did she influence “casting choices or artistic directions,” other than permitting her track “My Tears Ricochet” to feature in the movie.

“She was not responsible for the film's musical score, she never reviewed an edit, nor did she provide any comments on the movie,” her representative informed Us on May 9, 2025. “She did not even view It Ends With Us until several weeks post its theatrical debut, and spent 2023 and 2024 touring worldwide, leading the most extensive concert series ever.”

Her publicist further stated, “Considering her role was limited to granting permission for a song in the film, a contribution also made by 19 other musicians, this subpoena for documents aims to leverage Taylor Swift’s reputation to generate media attention through sensational headlines rather than concentrating on the specifics of the legal matter.”

A Glimpse into Blake Lively and Taylor Swift’s ‘Tense’ Friendship During the Baldoni Lawsuit

During the evidence-gathering phase of Lively’s lawsuit, Judge Lewis J. Liman rejected the Baldoni team’s endeavor to question Swift under oath, citing that it would extend beyond the designated timeframe.

In November, Us reported that both Swift and Jackman appeared on a roster of individuals presented by Lively’s legal counsel for possible court testimony. Emily Blunt, Scooter Braun, and Gigi Hadid were similarly identified as individuals “presumed to possess relevant information” regarding the It Ends With Us disagreement.

The trial between Lively and Baldoni is scheduled to commence on March 9, 2026, unless both parties achieve an agreement prior to that date. Lively’s legal representative has verified that the actress, formerly of Gossip Girl, plans to give evidence throughout the court proceedings.
