Texts reveal political pundit's alleged killer claimed to be tired of his "animousity"
Text exchanges purportedly occurring between the individual charged with the shooting, Tyler Robinson, and his roommate, hint at a possible reason behind the killing of political pundit Charlie Kirk.
Prosecutors, during a news briefing held on Tuesday, September 16, disclosed information from the formal legal documents filed in the case against the 22-year-old Robinson, outlining communications they claim transpired between Robinson's unidentified roommate and Robinson himself, subsequent to Kirk's fatal shooting on September 10.
As per the indictment papers, the roommate asserted receiving a text from Robinson on the day Kirk died, which purportedly stated, “Stop what you're doing, check beneath my keyboard.”
Upon inspecting beneath the computer peripheral, the roommate discovered a message seemingly penned by Robinson.

The supposed note declared, “I had the chance to eliminate Charlie Kirk and I intend to seize it.”
The roommate then texted Robinson back, according to legal authorities, inquiring if he was "being facetious."
“I'm still alright, my dear, but I'm delayed in Orem for a bit longer,” Robinson's alleged response was. “It shouldn't be long before I can return home, but I still need to collect my rifle. Frankly, I had hoped to keep this undisclosed until my death from old age. I regret involving you.”
The roommate questioned Robinson, “You weren't responsible for this, were you?” to which Robinson purportedly admitted, “I was, I apologize.” When pressed by his roommate for the reason, Robinson disclosed his alleged justification.
“I grew tired of his animosity,” he reportedly penned. “Certain forms of hatred cannot be reasoned away.”
Charlie Kirk’s Last Statements Touched Upon Discussions of Firearms Control
Kirk met his demise by gunfire during the inaugural event of his American Comeback Tour at Utah Valley University. He was 31 years old.
Initially, two individuals considered persons of interest were apprehended but subsequently let go. By September 12, authorities declared that Robinson had surrendered to officials and was believed to be the perpetrator.
Before Robinson's apprehension, his mother, as stated at the press conference, identified a photo of the suspected shooter released by the FBI as resembling her son. She contacted Robinson, inquiring about his whereabouts. Robinson asserted he was unwell and at home on both September 11 and September 10, the date of the shooting incident.
During the press conference, Robinson’s mother noted that her son had adopted a more "pro-LGBTQ+ rights stance" since he began a relationship with his roommate, who is reportedly undergoing gender transition.

Robinson’s mother then communicated with his father, who similarly found the suspected shooter's image to resemble their son. Robinson’s father further identified the presumed murder weapon, thinking it matched a rifle his son had received as a present. Robinson’s father telephoned him, and Robinson purportedly suggested to his father that he was the shooter and simply "wished to conclude things."
Prior to responding to his father's call, Robinson reportedly messaged his roommate, stating that his father "has been a staunch supporter of the MAGA movement" since President Donald Trump assumed office. Robinson then informed his roommate of his intention to surrender "voluntarily" and purportedly instructed him to erase their conversations.
Robinson faces charges including aggravated murder, a capital offense, and the felony use of a firearm. Additionally, he was confronted with several accusations of impeding justice, influencing a witness, and committing a violent crime while a child was present. He remains incarcerated without bond in the Utah county detention facility.
