Teyana Taylor Declares "Never Too Much" Apple Pie in Delightful New Romance
Teyana Taylor and Aaron Pierre's relationship is flourishing.
The 34-year-old artist and performer offered fresh details about her delightful new relationship during her appearance on the Sherri show on Wednesday, September 24. When Sherri Shepherd, the show's host, asked about her enjoyment of “apple pie” — which is Taylor's affectionate term for Pierre — she responded with, “As Luther [Vandross] once sang, ‘Never Too Much,’ correct? … You can never have too much apple pie.”
Taylor had previously made her relationship with Pierre, a British actor known for voicing Mufasa in Mufasa: The Lion King, public on Instagram in June, marking his 31st birthday with a heartfelt message.
Several months prior, the pair garnered attention after being photographed together at Vanity Fair’s Oscar party and subsequently posting the images on their social media platforms.

The 58-year-old Shepherd was told by Taylor that discussing Pierre evokes a “blushy” sensation, to which she further stated, “I am content. And experiencing contentment is a wonderful sensation.”
In response to Shepherd's query about advice for discovering love, Taylor offered, “I believe the paramount element is, regardless of your past, be it a painful breakup or any other situation, the optimal approach is to be prepared to love without defenses.”
Taylor elaborated, “I believe approaching a new relationship with established barriers will obstruct your opportunities, you understand? And the individual before you might not be the same person they once were. Therefore, my method is to proceed directly, without protection, and to be open to embracing whatever is meant for me.”
Taylor's marriage to former NBA star Iman Shumpert spanned from 2016 until 2024. Her divorce petition was submitted in early 2023. After an unsuccessful attempt to reconcile, Taylor and Shumpert, 35, saw a divorce decree finalized in the subsequent year. They have two children together: Junie Shumpert, who was born in 2015, and Rue Shumpert, born in 2020.

Taylor features alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the thrilling action film One Battle After Another, scheduled for release in cinemas on Friday, September 26.
Shepherd raised the topic of Taylor’s palpable “sexual chemistry” with DiCaprio, 50, in their cinematic roles, to which Taylor simply described the movie as “a professional undertaking.”
“Darling, have you seen my apple pie?” Taylor remarked, alluding to Pierre. “My focus remains squarely on my reward, understand?”
She further elaborated, “My attention is fixed on my goal, so when I arrive on set, my purpose is to perform a task. I am a collaborative member of the crew. We are all participants in this endeavor, aiming for success and to create something extraordinary, so upon stepping onto the set, it's essentially, ‘When the signal sounds, it's time to commence working.’ And I engage in my duties and then return directly home.”
Taylor affirmed that both she and Pierre feel “extremely confident.” She added, “And once we recognize what our ultimate treasure is, we have no concerns about anyone diverging from that treasure in search of another.”
