The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Actress Wenne Alton Davis Dies in Tragic NYC Pedestrian Collision

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actress Wenne Alton Davis passed away in New York City at the age of 60 after being struck by an automobile.

According to the New York City Police Department, emergency services were called on Monday, December 8, in response to a 9-1-1 report regarding a pedestrian collision at the intersection of West 53rd Street and Broadway.

A subsequent investigation by the NYPD determined that a 60-year-old female pedestrian, later identified as Davis, was hit by a black 2023 Cadillac XT6 driven by a 61-year-old male.

Davis sustained critical head and body injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced deceased, police told Us Weekly in a formal statement.

The driver of the 2023 Cadillac XT6 remained at the scene and was not injured in the incident.

Police confirmed to Us on Wednesday, December 10, that no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active under the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.

Us has reached out to Davis’ representative for additional comment.

In 2023, Davis appeared in a single episode of Amazon Prime’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel as a police officer. She also held guest roles on various other television programs, including New Amsterdam, Blindspot, Girls5eva, and Rescue Me.

Davis was born Wendy Davis in Durham, North Carolina, before adopting the stage name Wenne Alton Davis for her acting career. She moved to New York in her late twenties to pursue stand-up comedy and acting, settling in Forest Hills, Queens.

To support herself during her acting career, Davis also worked in security at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

“She had a deep affection for New York, for acting, for her colleagues at JFK and, most of all, her family and her circle of friends (which was also immense),” Davis’ agent stated to The New York Times.

In the weeks leading up to her death, Davis was active on Instagram, sharing photos of her cats and promoting her friends in the entertainment industry.

“Hey friends! If you love comedy, please come support my friend, @joannambriley doing her show in the New York Comedy Festival this Friday!” she posted on Instagram on November 2. “I’ll be there & am so excited to see her do her show! #actor #comedy #standupcomedy #nyc.”

Davis’ social media activity also documented her interest in boxing.

“Happy 2025!” she wrote on Instagram on January 3 from an unidentified gym. “It’s going to be an awesome year! #actor #actorslife.” (Her final Instagram post before her death was a tribute to her father and brother-in-law on Veterans Day.)

After learning of Davis’ death, neighbor Edward Reynoso recalled a specific interaction he had with the actress shortly before the tragedy.

In an interview with the New York Daily News published on Wednesday, Reynoso mentioned that his neighbor recently said to him, “I love you, I appreciate you.”

“It was so strange to me, because I felt like she was saying goodbye,” Reynoso shared with the publication. “Now that this happened, it all seems so odd to me.”
