Malcolm-Jamal passed away on July 20, 2025, following a drowning incident at Playa Grande beach in Costa Rica while on a family vacation. He was 54 years old.
“We are grateful for your abundant love during this sensitive period,” Tenisha conveyed in the accompanying text of her update. “Tomorrow signifies our anniversary — and my emotions are raw. I am, for the very first time, offering a look into the affection that started everything.”
She continued, “I can yet recall my husband’s laughter, still perceive how he embraced every facet of my being — every sorrow, every aspiration. Today, in tribute to him, my daughter and I are introducing River & Ember and formally inaugurating The Warner Family Foundation.
“United, we continue the heritage my husband and I established — a mission that fosters the inherent brilliance in children and empowers emerging artists to innovate beyond conventions. This is love, persisting. Still creating. Still guiding our path ahead.”
Tenisha also featured a more detailed declaration about River & Ember, an initiative dedicated to supporting children’s welfare, within the body of the post.
“River & Ember originated not solely from my background as a doctor of psychology, but also from my personal experience with loss and affection. Its purpose is to establish traditions that endure beyond our lifetimes — the very kind our offspring will uphold as a lasting inheritance,” she clarified. “River & Ember commenced with a duality of fundamental energies: the consistent current that propels us onward, and the gentle glow that sustains our spirit within. My husband personified both. His existence was akin to a river — unwavering, dependable, and perpetually directed towards significance.”
