Todd Chrisley Disapproves of Daughter Savannah Airing Family Feuds on Television

Todd Chrisley expressed his disapproval regarding his daughter Savannah's decision to broadcast their family's private disagreements on television.

During the "Chrisley Confessions 2.0." podcast episode, which aired on Wednesday, October 1, Todd stated his preference that the conflict involving Savannah and her grandfather, Harvey Hughes, should have remained a personal matter.

“From my point of view, and you're aware of this since I've mentioned it before, there are certain situations where I believe less information is better, wouldn't you agree?” Todd, aged 56, conveyed to his 52-year-old wife Julie.

He further elaborated, “And you're aware that I disapproved after learning this had been broadcast, especially given some of the comments she made.”

Todd clarified that he believed Savannah, 28, should have addressed her grievances with her grandfather, who is Julie's father, privately and not on television, as a mark of respect for her mother.

“If her intention was to confront him for, in her opinion, his absence and his failure to be the grandfather she needed, then that discussion should have occurred privately, but it wasn't my decision to make,” he went on to say. “I don't control these choices. I don't get to express my hurt. I don't know her true feelings, only what she vocalizes... that Chase received all the attention, and she received none, correct?”

Although he would have preferred his relatives to handle their disagreements with more discretion, Todd acknowledged the truth in the claim that Hughes indeed showed favoritism toward Savannah's 29-year-old brother Chase during their upbringing.

“This dynamic has genuinely been consistent throughout her entire life, hasn't it? And I believe this has built up since her childhood, because, frankly, your father isn't known for empowering women. He belongs to an entirely different generation.”

A clear sense of strain was observable during the initial episode of Lifetime’s The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, which premiered in September.

Hughes appeared to have reservations about how Savannah handled her parents' release from incarceration in May, subsequent to a presidential pardon issued by Donald Trump. (Todd and Julie had been imprisoned for offenses including bank fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion.)

In a moment during the episode's exchange, a visibly annoyed Savannah was observed silently forming the words, “I despise him!”

Julie, on the other hand, conveyed during the podcast her distress at witnessing the animosity between her daughter and father, confessing to feeling “somber” regarding their strained relationship.

“Because he is my father, and she is my daughter. As you've mentioned in both the previous and current podcasts, everyone copes with their suffering uniquely,” she remarked. “My wish is for them to reach a mutual understanding, and for them to discover a harmonious space, considering he is her grandfather, and she is his granddaughter. Therefore, I feel quite torn by this situation, and I have genuinely been praying about it.”

Julie further stated that she comprehends Savannah's sentiments toward Hughes.

“I believe there’s truth to her feelings, especially since my father was honest and admitted, ‘I have. I have let you down,’” Julie concluded.
