Tom Brady and Paris Hilton join the growing list of celebrities cloning their beloved pets.
Tom Brady, Paris Hilton, and other prominent figures have such an intense connection with their animal companions that some are choosing to clone their dogs to keep their memory alive. In November 2025, Brady announced that his new puppy, Junie, is a clone of the pitbull mix he shared with his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. (Brady and Bündchen confirmed in 2023 that their cherished dog, Lua, had passed away.)
“I have a deep affection for my animals,” Brady explained in a statement issued by Colossal Biosciences, a startup where the NFL veteran holds an investment. “They are everything to my family and me. Several years ago, I collaborated with Colossal, utilizing their non-invasive cloning procedure by taking a simple blood sample from our family’s aging dog before she passed.”Colossal had recently completed the acquisition of the animal cloning firm Viagen Pets and Equine at the time.Stars' Best Friends! Florence Pugh and More Celebs Gush Over Their Beloved Pets“Using innovative technology to advance animal conservation, Viagen’s team has successfully cloned 15 species,” the company declared in a press release. “They have also cultured and bio banked more than 40 unique species, including 22 threatened or endangered species such as the White rhino, Black rhino, Florida bonneted bat, Perdido beach mouse, and Indiana bat. These accomplishments firmly establish Viagen as the global frontrunner in animal cloning, setting unmatched standards for innovation, efficiency, and conservation impact.”While the practice of cloning animals has become more prevalent in recent years, it is not without controversy. In a 2025 statement, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) acknowledged serious “welfare concerns.”“Reports on the health and condition of cloned mammalian animals have indicated a variety of anatomical and physiological problems,” the organization’s website statement read. “It is difficult to document fully the consequences of cloning or bioengineered applications of companion animals since many of these activities fall outside the framework of publicly funded and regulated research programs.”Regardless of the debate, here are some celebrities who have chosen to have their beloved pets cloned:
Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton surprised her mother, Kathy Hilton, on a 2023 episode of Paris in Love by revealing two clones of her late chihuahua, Diamond Baby, appropriately named Diamond and Baby, hidden under a blanket. (Paris had previously joked to her mom that she introduced her son Phoenix in the same way.)“The two small clones stay together,” Kathy exclusively told Us Weekly in January 2024. “They walk together, they kind of huddle and lay into each other like twins.”Barbra Streisand
EGOT winner Barbra Streisand was so attached to her dog Samantha (affectionately called Sammie) that she cloned the Coton de Tulear twice. Before Sammie’s death in 2017, Streisand arranged for Viagen to take cells from the canine’s mouth and stomach, which she used to create Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett.“They have distinct personalities,” Streisand told Variety in 2018. “I am waiting for them to get older so I can see if they share [Samantha’s] brown eyes and seriousness.”Tom Brady
Tom Brady revealed in November 2025 that cloning Lua provided his family with “a second chance” with the deceased pup. (Brady shares two children, Benjamin and Vivian, with Gisele Bündchen and eldest son Jack with ex Bridget Moynahan.)Barry Diller
Billionaire businessman Barry Diller, married to fashion designer Diane von Furstenburg, confessed to the Irish Times in June 2025 that he created five “daughters” of his late Jack Russell terrier, Shannon, who passed away in 2014.“They resemble little Irish females,” he told the outlet about cloning his first dog. “[Shannon] was an incredible dog. She was just the loveliest, most adventurous — she was a marvelous little creature.”For more information on these celebrity pet owners, pick up the latest issue of Us Weekly, available on newsstands now.You horoscope
