Trademark Grab for Charlie Kirk's Name Follows Activist's Death

Following the passing of Charlie Kirk, several individuals appear to be trying to secure trademarks for merchandise bearing his name, an exclusive report by Us Weekly confirms.

Just five days after Kirk's demise, on September 15, a man identified as Terrance Malone submitted paperwork seeking the trademark for "Charlie Kirk’s Life Matters."

Malone, a 50-year-old Pennsylvania resident, stated his intention to potentially produce apparel featuring the slogan. He outlined plans to apply it to shirts, fishing jackets, extended jackets, athletic jackets, swim shorts, hosiery, shoes, headwear (including those made of fur), and both hunting and camouflage trousers.

On Sunday, September 21, a second application was submitted by Jasmine Wong. This request sought permission to utilize Charlie Kirk's name for items such as dresses, shirts, sweatshirts, sleepwear, jumpers, hoodies, head coverings, and infant apparel.

Wong's submission explicitly stated, “The name, image, resemblance, or autograph presented in the mark does not belong to a living person.”

These applications have not yet received approval. It is anticipated that these individuals will face significant challenges if their requests pertain to Kirk, given that his estate holds ultimate authority over the use of his name or image.

As Us previously disclosed, Kirk was fatally attacked on September 10 at 31 years old, during an appearance at Utah Valley University. He is survived by his wife, Erika Kirk (born Frantzve), and their two offspring, whose names and appearances the couple chose to keep from the public eye.
