Trump Inquires About Meghan Markle During Royal UK Visit
During his recent visit to the United Kingdom, it seems President Donald Trump was keen to extract some intriguing insights from Queen Camilla.
According to royal commentator Tom Sykes, writing in his The Royalist Substack on Thursday, October 16, the 79-year-old Trump reportedly mentioned Meghan Markle in conversations with members of the royal household.
Sykes quoted Trump as asking, “So, what’s the latest on Meghan? What&s;s really happening?” Reflecting on this notably casual exchange, Sykes humorously remarked that Trump “was undoubtedly hoping for an exclusive scoop.” (A desire many share!)
Us Weekly contacted both Buckingham Palace and the White House seeking official statements.
Trump Seemingly Eyes Kate While Acknowledging 'Queen' CamillaLast month, President Trump, accompanied by his wife, Melania Trump, undertook their second official state visit to the United Kingdom. The two-day engagement commenced with the presidential couple being welcomed by Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton. Later, King Charles III and Camilla joined the royals for a ceremonial procession in horse-drawn carriages within the precincts of Windsor Castle.
During his visit, prior to the state dinner that evening, Trump paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, and also delivered a speech expressing gratitude to the royal family for their warm reception.
At that occasion, Trump remarked, “Melania and I are thrilled to once again visit with Prince William and to behold Her Royal Highness, Princess Catherine, looking so luminous, so well, and so graceful.” His pronounced praise for William led some royal observers to speculate that Trump was subtly criticizing Prince Harry.
Trump's address, delivered at the September 17 event, continued: “I simply wish to state that His Majesty has also fostered an extraordinary son in His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales. Truly impressive.” He added, “We have become acquainted, and I foresee unparalleled accomplishments for you ahead.”
The exclusion of Harry and Meghan from the formal discussions between Trump and the British royals comes as little surprise. The president has been quite vocal in his opinions regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex since their move to the United States in 2020.
Observers Allege Queen Camilla Instructed Kate Middleton to 'Move' in Viral ClipTrump declared that following Harry and Meghan's departure from their roles as working royals, the U.S. government “will not fund their security details” within the United States. (Earlier this year, Harry was unsuccessful in his legal attempt to secure state-funded protection during his trips to the U.K.)
A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan informed Us in March 2020 that “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to request security assistance from the U.S. government.” They clarified, “Security arrangements have been established through private funding.”
In the same year, Trump publicly declared he was “not fond” of Meghan.
Trump commented, “I would express this — and she has likely been informed of it — I extend considerable good fortune to Harry, as he will require it.” This statement followed a September 2020 video appearance by Harry and Meghan, which encouraged U.S. citizens to participate in that year's election.
When inquiries concerning Harry's immigration status surfaced earlier this year, Trump seized the chance to once again criticize Meghan.
In March, he informed The New York Post, “I’ll let him be. He has sufficient difficulties with his spouse. She’s dreadful.” He concluded, “I believe unfortunate Harry is being entirely manipulated.”
