Vanna White explains why she and her partner of 13 years feel no need for marriage.
Vanna White has opened up, offering unusual insights into her long-term relationship with partner John Donaldson, specifically addressing speculation about potential marriage plans.
The prominent Wheel of Fortune personality stated in an interview with E! News on Wednesday, December 10, that "We are extremely content." She added, "Our relationship has lasted for many years, and we are perfectly satisfied with its current state."
The 68-year-old recognized that there is widespread public curiosity regarding the direction of her 13-year partnership with the real estate mogul. However, she reassured her audience that she is entirely satisfied with the status quo.
"Perhaps people desire to witness a formal wedding," she explained to the publication. "After dedicating such a long time to a relationship, it creates a feeling akin to already being married. The necessity for a legal document disappears."

Regarding their holiday plans, White disclosed, "We consistently travel to Hawaii for the Christmas break. The weather is warm and tropical, offering an ideal escape from urban living."
White, mother to Nikko (31) and Gigi (28) from her previous marriage to George Santo Pietro, noted that her offspring are consistently included in her holiday traditions.
"I always handle the gift wrapping," the television figure stated. "On the night before Christmas, we are allowed to unwrap a single present, then we must hold off until Christmas Day for the remainder. This tradition has always been upheld."
She emphasized, "Christmas holds significance for everyone, particularly for families, and regardless of one's age, it provides enjoyment."
White and Donaldson's relationship commenced in 2012, having been introduced at a barbecue by a mutual acquaintance.
"I recall seeing him and thinking, 'He is quite attractive,'" White shared with People magazine in October 2019, recounting her initial meeting with Donaldson. "We ultimately spent a considerable amount of time in conversation that evening."
White described their relationship as simply "effective," elaborating, "He allows me to be myself, and I allow him to be himself. We experience no conflicts."
The actress, known for her role in Goddess of Love, has previously responded to discussions about marriage, reiterating her belief that their connection is sufficiently solid without formalizing it legally.
"We have been a couple for twelve years now, and I essentially view us as married," White stated to People in October 2023. "Is there a requirement to marry? No, because we find security and peace within our existing commitment. We understand each other completely. I recognize him as my partner for life, and he recognizes the same in me."
White enthusiastically described Donaldson as "the masculine equivalent of myself."
"Our personalities align very closely," she observed. "Our rapport is exceptional. He possesses an effortless personality. He's low-maintenance, and he allows me to express myself fully, just as I allow him the same freedom."
With over ten years invested in the partnership, White shared her key insight into maintaining its longevity.
"Avoid entering a relationship merely to alleviate loneliness, as unhappiness within the partnership will result in continued isolation," she advised. "Maintain your authentic identity and resist attempts by others to alter your personality. It is gratifying when a partner enhances your self-esteem and values you for who you are, without attempting to reshape you. Simplicity is essential."
