Vicky Cornell Shares Heartwarming Father Daughter Duet for Toni's 21st Birthday
Vicky Cornell, the widow of Chris Cornell, posted a poignant archival video showing her deceased husband sharing a tender interaction with their daughter, Toni, in celebration of Toni's 21st birthday.
The Instagram video, uploaded on Thursday, September 18, features Cornell playing a guitar while a youthful Toni joins him in singing the track “Love the Way You Lie” by Eminem and Rihanna.
Vicky, aged 46, used the accompanying caption to pay tribute to Toni and reminisce about her departed husband, whose death by suicide occurred in May 2017.

“Two decades and one year have passed incredibly quickly…. I thank you for selecting me as your mother — it represents the most precious present I have ever received. I am profoundly fortunate and eternally appreciative for all the joy you’ve introduced into my existence,” Vicky penned.
"You were an absolutely extraordinary young girl, and you have matured into an equally remarkable young lady. Your spirit is exceptional — brimming with affection, fortitude, empathy, and perseverance,” she continued. “I recognize your journey has not been simple. Life presented you with a devastating challenge — a sorrow that no individual ought to bear. Yet, despite that, you have persistently developed, cherished, and radiated light. I am immensely proud of you — and I am certain your father shares that pride."
Vicky then recounted a remembrance of her deceased spouse, stating, “From the initial instant he saw you on the sonogram and learned, ‘It’s a daughter!’ — you became his cherished Baby Toni. That connection was truly unique, and although he is not present in body, I am confident he observes you, provides direction, and overflows with pride daily.”
“This marks the commencement of an entirely new phase in your existence, and I am beyond thrilled to witness you embrace it. I love you. I worship you. You have represented my fortitude, my purpose, and my supreme happiness,” Vicky concluded the message, “Happy 21st, to our lovely daughter .”

Toni and Cornell shared a mutual passion for music, with Toni first garnering public attention in 2015 when she performed a duet of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” alongside her father. Toni revisited the song in 2019 at a commemorative concert for her dad, performing it with Marley’s eldest son, Ziggy Marley.
Cornell, who fronted the rock groups Audioslave and Soundgarden, was discovered deceased within a hotel bathroom in May 2017 in Detroit, having performed with Soundgarden earlier that night. His passing was determined to be a suicide.
Cornell’s survivors include his wife, Vicky, and their two offspring, Toni and Christopher, aged 19. He additionally had a daughter, Lilian Jean, with his initial spouse, Susan Silver.
