Weezer's bassist Scott Shriner and his spouse, true crime writer Jillian Lauren, have experienced numerous challenges and triumphs while residing in Los Angeles with their two children.

A press statement issued on Wednesday, April 9, reported, “At approximately 3:25 p.m. on April 8, 2025, the California Highway Patrol sought assistance in finding three individuals suspected of misdemeanor hit-and-run, who had escaped into a residential area.” It continued, “While officers were in the backyard of that home, they saw a woman, subsequently identified as 51-year-old Jillian Shriner, in an adjacent yard carrying a handgun.”

Shriner posted on Instagram at that time, “For the past 8 months, I've kept dozens of photos, and now that everything is finalized, Jovi is free to captivate everyone online.”
Lauren expressed to Jovi on his adoption day, “From the instant we gazed into your deep, luminous eyes, we had faith in you.” She continued, “My heart still swells with joy whenever I spot them peeking from behind the sofa, your favorite spot to conceal yourself and wait for us to discover you. In March 2025, Lauren disclosed her fight against cancer, sharing an Instagram photo of herself in a hospital bed, smiling and offering a thumbs-up gesture. She refrained from specifying the type of cancer she was confronting.
She penned, “Indeed, I am dealing with a touch of the 'C' word, which I know many of us encounter.” She added, “I am here to express my gratitude to the extraordinary oncology staff, who navigated me through a complex surgical procedure flawlessly. I am consistently thankful for every moment of the empathetic and superior medical attention I receive. April 2025
Law enforcement officials responded to Shriner and Lauren’s residence on April 8 due to a report of a misdemeanor hit-and-run incident. Upon their arrival, they discovered Lauren in an adjacent yard, holding a handgun. She reportedly declined to relinquish her weapon when commanded by LAPD officers and sustained a “non-life-threatening gunshot injury” treated at a local hospital, as per an LAPD declaration. She faced charges of felony attempted murder, subsequently securing release on a $1 million bond. Her court appearance is set for April 30, 2025.
