Witney Carson Joins DWTS Elite With Second Mirrorball Win

After professional dancer Witney Carson and wildlife advocate Robert Irwin claimed the season 34 Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy in November 2025, Carson became one of the few Dancing With the Stars professionals to achieve more than one victory.

Following her second triumph, Carson shared on Good Morning America, “My initial win came when I was just 19; now at 32, with children, celebrating this moment with them and my spouse [Carson McAllister] felt incredibly meaningful.”

Another eight professional dancers have secured victory more than once. Derek Hough has lifted the mirrorball trophy on six occasions (his sibling, Julianne Hough, has achieved this twice). Additionally, Jenna Johnson boasts two trophies, while her spouse, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, possesses three.

Derek Hough

The discussion about the greatest of all time on Dancing With the Stars invariably points to Derek, who clinched the Mirrorball alongside Brooke Burke (season 7), Nicole Scherzinger (season 10), Jennifer Grey (season 11), Kellie Pickler (season 16), Amber Riley (season 17), and Bindi Irwin (season 21).

Derek stepped away from competing after the 23rd season, later rejoining the series as a judge for season 29.

Mark Ballas

Ballas remained a prominent figure on Dancing With the Stars from season 5 through 22, securing victory twice during that period — on both occasions with Olympic competitors. He earned the championship with former figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi in season 6, and subsequently with ex-gymnast Shawn Johnson in season 8. He made a comeback to the program in season 25, then garnered his third win in season 31, partnered with Charli D’Amelio.

Valentin Chmerkovskiy

Chmerkovskiy initially featured on Dancing With the Stars in season 2, though he didn't become a professional dancer until season 13. He achieved his inaugural victory in season 20 partnered with Rumer Willis, and then added another in season 23 by winning with gymnast Laurie Hernandez. His latest triumph occurred in season 32 of 2023 with Xochitl Gomez.

Cheryl Burke

Burke, who has won twice, secured the Mirrorball Trophy in her initial two competitions: season 2 with Drew Lachey and season 3 with Emmitt Smith. She has participated in the program 23 times since those victories. Burke achieved a second-place finish in seasons 8 and 13, and a third-place ranking on four other occasions.

Julianne Hough

Much like Burke, Julianne emerged victorious in her initial two seasons. She participated in seasons 4 through 8, clinching wins in seasons 4 and 5 alongside Apolo Ohno and Hélio Castroneves, respectively.

Jenna Johnson

Jenna commenced her competition on DWTS in season 23, yet she has since compensated for the delay with two victories over eight years. Beyond her wins with Rippon in season 26 and Graziadei in season 33, she also boasts two runner-up positions, indicating she has reached the finale in half of her total appearances.

Kym Johnson

It took Kym Johnson several attempts to capture the coveted title, eventually securing her first Mirrorball Trophy in her seventh season, collaborating with Donny Osmond for season 9. Merely two seasons later, she repeated the feat, winning with Hines Ward in season 12. She also triumphed in the second season of the Australian adaptation of Dancing With the Stars.

Peta Murgatroyd

Murgatroyd first appeared as a professional dancer in the DWTS ensemble during season 13 but was eliminated on the very first night with her partner, Metta World Peace. She rebounded the following year, winning season 14 with Donald Driver. She achieved another victory with Nyle DiMarco in season 22.

Witney Carson

Carson, who initially participated in DWTS as a troupe member in season 16 before ascending to a professional role in season 18, secured her first mirrorball with Alfonso Ribeiro in season 19 in 2014. She subsequently claimed her second trophy with Irwin in season 34 in 2025. Following her second victory, she expressed her delight at the “full circle” moment of receiving the trophy from Ribeiro, now the show's host.

“Having Alfonso present me with the mirrorball felt genuinely complete for me, and partnering with Robert was truly exceptional,” she stated on GMA. “I mean, everyone is aware of how extraordinary he is. He's precisely like this off-screen, which is incredible, making it a truly unforgettable and distinct season.”
