A$AP Rocky and Margaret Qualley Star in Chanel's New Brand Ambassador Announcement Film

Chanel has officially announced A$AP Rocky as its newest brand ambassador, marking his debut with a captivating teaser video co-starring Margaret Qualley. This highly anticipated announcement comes just 48 hours before Michel Blazy, Chanel’s couturier, is set to unveil his inaugural Métiers d’Art collection, also in New York.

The Métiers d’Art line, a unique concept first introduced by Karl Lagerfeld, serves to showcase the extraordinary craftsmanship of the various artisans Chanel has brought together. This includes specialized skills such as intricate embroidery, precise pleating, expert glove-making, and imaginative costume jewelry design, highlighting the brand’s commitment to preserving and celebrating these unique artistic traditions.

Directed by Michel Gondry, the 2.49-minute short film opens with the stars waking up together in a walk-up apartment in Williamsburg. Following a tender peck on her lover’s forehead, Qualley disappears into a small bathroom. Through a magical transformation, she emerges from her blue nightie, reappearing in a striking red, white, and blue houndstooth Chanel jacket, elegantly paired with pale blue pants, her hair meticulously styled in a chignon.

No sooner has Qualley vanished than A$AP Rocky leaps from bed, descending the tenement building’s external steel stairs to embark on a spirited chase after her. His pursuit leads him on an extraordinary journey, involving swimming beneath the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and running northward through the vibrant Lower East Side. The entire action sequence is underscored by moody ambient music, courtesy of Le Motel, adding to the film's evocative atmosphere.

Mid-chase, the rapper and husband of Rihanna, manages to find time to make two quick stops at discount stores, where he acquires new pants and a blazer. He eventually catches up with Qualley at Astor Place station, arriving just in time to genuflect onto one knee and present a small white Chanel box, presumed to contain a diamond engagement ring, at the station entrance. The sight of this gesture sends the actress leaping into the air in a paroxysm of joy, after which the happy couple marches arm-in-arm back into the subway.

The couple's journey continues, presumably leading them to attend the Métiers d’Art show, which is scheduled to be revealed on Tuesday at 8 p.m. NYC time.
