Abel Richard Debuts $170,000 Chrono Handbag Collection at Miami Art Basel Event
Abel Richard, a newly established Italian luxury handbag brand, chose Miami’s Art Basel as the venue for its global debut over the weekend. The brand, founded by entrepreneur and designer Abel Richard Bullock, distinguishes itself by merging traditional Italian craftsmanship with high-end materials typically associated with private aviation, yachting, and luxury automotive industries.
The launch coincided with the grand opening of Abel Richard's new boutique in the Miami Design District. The store serves as the exhibit space for the brand’s first style, the Chrono bag. This piece features an architectural silhouette and requires over 1,000 hours of production time, resulting in a starting price point of $170,000.
“In our experience, fashion is about feeling, identity, and a sense of belonging,” stated Bullock regarding the brand’s philosophy. He added that creating designs like the Chrono, which embody these feelings, is deeply meaningful to the brand. “Our hope is that every time someone carries one of our signature Abel Richard bags, they feel a deep connection to their individuality and can express these feelings wearing our designs.”
The Chrono collection launches in three distinct editions, each showcasing unique materials and finishes. The Bianco Lustre model is priced at $207,000 and features pale leather, a pearlescent lacquered shell, and 24K gold mirror accents. The Titanio model, available for $170,000, incorporates satin-brushed proprietary titanium alloy, dark leather, and carbon fiber. The Noir model is constructed from matte-black forged carbon and is priced at $179,000.
Bullock emphasized the innovation driving the creation of the Chrono. “The Chrono demonstrates what’s possible when innovation drives every decision,” he noted. The production process is challenging and meticulous, with every curve calculated precisely to achieve the perfect silhouette. Bullock explained that any minor misstep can compromise the design, necessitating strict quality control where only pieces meeting all standards move to full production. Hundreds of hours are dedicated to perfecting each piece, resulting in a singular design that celebrates artistry.
The Miami Design District boutique spans 3,777 square feet and features a gallery-like interior. The design elements include marble, walnut, and brushed brass finishes. Handbags are presented individually within the space, using curved architectural lines and ambient lighting to create a museum-like atmosphere for visitors.
The Miami flagship opening follows a soft launch in Beverly Hills and signifies the beginning of a larger global retail rollout for Abel Richard. The brand plans to expand its presence by opening additional boutiques in key luxury markets including Manhattan, Scottsdale, London, and Dubai, starting in the first quarter of 2026, as it introduces its limited-edition collections to an international audience. The Beverly Hills location is currently open to the public at 236 N. Rodeo Drive, while the Miami boutique continues to expand its presence at 3921 NE 2nd Avenue.
