Adidas UK Soars to Success with Strong Financial Comeback in 2024

Adidas UK has reported a significant upturn in its financial performance for 2024, filing accounts that demonstrate a marked improvement compared to its 2023 results. This positive trajectory indicates a strong recovery and growth phase for the sportswear giant within the United Kingdom market, reversing previous trends.
The company's sales saw a robust increase of 14%, reaching a total of £1.283 billion. This growth is particularly notable as it successfully reversed the declining trend observed in 2023, when sales had experienced a 9% fall. The sales growth was multifaceted, driven by increases across all key channels. Wholesale operations contributed significantly with a rise of £144.7 million. Additionally, the company's own retail stores saw an increase of £5.766 million, complemented by a £7.27 million boost from its online sales channel, highlighting a balanced growth strategy.
Profitability metrics also showcased impressive improvements across the board. Gross profit escalated to £269.7 million, up from £217 million in the previous period. Operating profit experienced a substantial rise, climbing to £50.373 million from £36.25 million. Furthermore, profit before tax increased to £45.858 million, compared to £30.859 million a year prior, despite the company incurring a higher tax payment in the current financial year. Ultimately, the final profit for the financial year stood at £33.458 million, a healthy increase from £21.994 million.
Accompanying the absolute profit figures, Adidas UK also reported an enhancement in its profit margins. The gross profit margin improved to 21% from 19%, indicating better cost management and pricing strategies. Similarly, the operating profit margin saw an increase to 4%, up from 3% in the preceding year, reflecting improved operational efficiency within the business.
Looking ahead to 2025, Adidas UK acknowledges the persistence of macroeconomic challenges and geopolitical tensions. However, the company maintains a positive outlook for the year, underpinned by strong brand momentum and sustained high consumer demand for its products. While the UK-specific results for 2025 will not be available for another year, the global Adidas entity has already reported higher sales and profits for the current year, despite operating in a very challenging global economic landscape.
