Amazon Veteran David Lewkowitz Tapped as Mondial Relay CEO to Drive European Expansion

Mondial Relay, a prominent European delivery company, has announced significant leadership changes with the appointment of David Lewkowitz as its new Chief Executive Officer and Jean-François Dohogne as its new Chief Financial Officer. Lewkowitz brings over 12 years of extensive experience from Amazon, where he most recently served as the head of European supply chain operations, signaling a strategic move to bolster Mondial Relay's operational prowess.

Lewkowitz’s distinguished career began with over six years at the consulting firm Bain & Co. in Paris before he joined Amazon France in 2013. During his tenure at the US e-tailer, he held several high-impact senior positions, including head of sales and operations planning for continental Europe, head of operations for France, and president of Amazon France Logistique. Just prior to his move to Mondial Relay, in May 2024, he was appointed head of EU supply chain operations for Amazon, underscoring his deep expertise in large-scale logistics and supply chain management across the continent.

Michael Rouse, President of InPost, Mondial Relay’s parent company, expressed strong confidence in the new CEO’s capabilities. Rouse stated, “David’s solid experience and leadership in the logistics field will be key assets for strengthening Mondial Relay’s position across Europe.” He further added, “I am sure that David will be able to successfully execute our strategy, accelerate our transformation, and help shape the future of e-commerce deliveries within the InPost group,” highlighting the ambitious goals set for the company under its new leadership.

Supporting Lewkowitz in this new chapter is Jean-François Dohogne, the newly appointed CFO, whose background includes stints at prestigious firms such as McKinsey, Bpost, and Carrefour. These key appointments arrive at a pivotal moment for Mondial Relay. The company recently underwent a strategic network adjustment, parting ways with some retailers in its traditional collection point network during the spring, as it focuses keenly on expanding and promoting the use of automated lockers for parcel deliveries.

In France, where Mondial Relay was initially established as a subsidiary of the 3 Suisses group, the company currently boasts over 8,000 delivery lockers, a number nearly matching its collection points with partner retailers, which have adjusted from 11,000 to 9,000. Mondial Relay serves more than 50,000 brands and e-tailers and also maintains robust operations in Benelux, Spain, and Portugal, supported by an additional 20,000 collection points. Last year, the company reported an impressive 11% increase in parcel deliveries, reaching a total of 266.7 million parcels.

The broader InPost group, a powerhouse in the parcel delivery sector, demonstrated strong performance in the last fiscal year, delivering nearly 1.1 billion parcels. This volume contributed to a substantial revenue of €2.5 billion, marking an impressive 23.5% increase, showcasing the group's significant growth and market influence in the dynamic e-commerce logistics landscape.
