Arab World Institute Unveils 32 Finalists for Inaugural Fashion Prize
The Arab World Institute has officially unveiled the finalists for the inaugural edition of its prestigious fashion prize. This award has been established to celebrate designers who demonstrate exceptional talent, profound creativity, and unwavering commitment within the industry. The competition features three distinct categories: Emerging Talent, Innovative Talent, and Accessories Talent, each designed to spotlight different facets of design excellence.
This year's competition saw a remarkable response, receiving 125 entries from over ten countries, a testament to the vibrant diversity and dynamism flourishing within the Arab fashion landscape. The exceptional quality and high calibre of the submissions were particularly notable, leading to the strategic decision to introduce a third category specifically dedicated to accessories, ensuring broader recognition for this crucial design area.
The arduous task of selecting the finalists fell to a distinguished selection committee, which convened on June 30 at the Arab World Institute (IMA). This committee comprised influential figures including Yaffa Assouline, Youness Bouchida, Leyla Neri, Samira Ibrahim, Lotfi Aoulad, Majida Khattari, Iro Iwata, and Philippe Castro. From the extensive pool of hopefuls, they meticulously chose 32 finalists who represent the diverse creative spirit from across the Arab world, ensuring representation across the Emerging Talent, Innovative Talent, and Accessories Talent categories.
The ultimate winners will be determined by an esteemed jury composed of twelve prominent figures from the worlds of fashion, culture, and media. This distinguished panel includes industry giants such as Pascal Morand, Ingie Chalhoub, Rabih Kayrouz, Manuel Arnaut, Sylvie Ebel, Olivier Saillard, Pascale Mussard, and Milia Maroun. The victors will be awarded bespoke training at the renowned Institut Français de la Mode (IFM) and, crucially, the invaluable opportunity to organize and present a dedicated fashion show or collection presentation at the prestigious Arab World Institute itself.
The much-anticipated awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 8, at 7:30 PM, within the grandeur of the IMA's High Council Room in Paris. This elegant evening is envisioned as a key event to highlight the exceptional work of these talented designers and to collectively celebrate the rich aesthetics and intricate craftsmanship that define the Arab world's contribution to global fashion.
