Armani Group and Symphony Global Forge Luxury Hospitality Expansion
The Giorgio Armani Group is expanding its hospitality portfolio through a new joint venture with Symphony Global LLC, the private investment firm of Mohamed Alabbar. This partnership builds upon the success of existing Armani Hotels in Dubai and Milan, and grants worldwide exclusivity for the development of future Armani Hotels & Resorts.
The joint venture will operate from dual hubs in Milan and Dubai, leveraging the creative and strategic strengths of both locations to enhance its global reach. This collaboration represents a significant step in the long-term growth strategy for the Armani hospitality brand, solidifying its position in the luxury market.
The foundation for this expansion lies in the proven performance of Armani Hotel Dubai, situated within the Burj Khalifa, and Armani Hotel Milan on Via Manzoni. These properties have established a distinctive hospitality model recognized for its contemporary luxury and have elevated the Armani brand’s reputation internationally.
The joint venture envisions two distinct hotel concepts. The first will continue the established luxury Armani Hotel model, exemplified by the existing Dubai and Milan locations. The second will introduce a high-end Armani Hotel geared towards a younger, lifestyle-focused clientele, particularly in emerging markets, to address the growing demand for upscale hospitality experiences.
With a 20-year term and a potential 10-year renewal, the joint venture will adopt a selective growth strategy, prioritizing locations, design quality, and high-value services. Each project will be a fully integrated lifestyle destination, with Giorgio Armani overseeing all aspects of design – from architecture and interiors to furnishings, lighting, and service standards.
The Armani Group will also leverage its experience in residential and mixed-use projects, already present in cities like New York, Miami, and London, to create comprehensive and immersive experiences. Giuseppe Marsocci, CEO of the Armani Group, emphasized the strength of the existing partnership and the appeal of their design philosophy to today’s luxury travelers, citing the upcoming Armani Hotel at Diriyah Gate, Riyadh (scheduled for 2027) as further evidence of this success.
Mohamed Alabbar expressed his long-standing admiration for Giorgio Armani’s visionary design approach, highlighting the alignment of values between the two entities – a commitment to uncompromising quality, guest satisfaction, and the belief that true luxury resides in the emotional experience.
Alabbar brings extensive experience to the partnership as an entrepreneur with a proven track record in real estate, hospitality, retail, technology, and consumer goods. He is the founder of Emaar, the developer behind iconic destinations like Downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa, as well as Noon, a leading digital commerce platform in the Middle East, and a major shareholder in Americana, a large food and beverage operator.
