Bazizt and Sézane announce surprise September collaboration for a gender-fluid collection
Parisian high-end label Baziszt has officially announced an unexpected collaboration with women's ready-to-wear brand Sézane, set to launch this September 14th. This marks a distinctive association between one of France's leading fashion houses and a dynamic, emerging player in the men's luxury scene.
Baziszt, founded three years ago by Zied Ben Amor, began with a clear vision: to redefine men's shirting. His creations prioritize fluid, comfortable fabrics and fitted cuts that offer freedom of movement, distinguished by exquisite, exclusive, hand-made embroidery. The brand's deliberately high-end and original product quickly carved out a niche for itself.
The label's unique appeal was first recognized by L'Eclaireur in Paris, subsequently gaining traction in prestigious high-end boutiques across France, including Lothaire in Bordeaux, Solis in Lyon, and ActuelB in Avignon. Baziszt's international footprint has also expanded rapidly, with presence in renowned stores such as Antonia in Milan, Fashion Clinic in Lisbon, and, as of this season, The Webster in the U.S.
Baziszt shirts, which start at 400 euros and are meticulously crafted in India, Peru, and Turkey, have become a staple in exclusive summer and festive getaways. The brand's distinctive designs are favored by "decompressing" businessmen, numerous artists, and celebrities in glamorous destinations like Comporta, Mykonos, Ibiza, Saint-Barth, and Bodrum. This elite patronage has significantly elevated Baziszt's profile, notably when singer Joe Jonas was seen wearing one of its designs on stage in 2024.
The brand's strategic presence extends to luxury hotel boutiques, including the iconic Eden Rock in Saint-Barthélemy and the opulent palaces of the Airelles group. As Jean-Marc Fellous, press relations professional and Zied Ben Amor's partner in Baziszt, explains, "In these places, decision-makers take the time to discover brands and treat themselves. That's where Morgane Sézalory (founder of Sézane) bought some shirts, proving that this also opens up opportunities. After that, she wanted to meet us. And the connection went really well... she proposed this collaborative project."
The forthcoming capsule collection will be exclusively available through Sézane’s extensive retail network and digital platform. This comprehensive offering will feature a women's wardrobe, children's clothing, and a selection of lifestyle products. Comprising approximately fifty references, the collection will showcase Baziszt's signature handmade embroideries applied to Sézane's distinct silhouettes, including loose-fitting shirts adorned with large embroidered flowers, alongside knitwear and various accessories.
While this collaboration marks a significant foray into women's ready-to-wear, it is not Baziszt's first venture beyond men's fashion. Over several seasons, the brand has organically broadened its scope, developing a trans-generational and gender-neutral wardrobe that includes suede or baby alpaca jackets, priced between 600 and 900 euros, and embroidered canvas or suede bags ranging from 300 to 600 euros. Recognizing a substantial proportion of female buyers, the label successfully introduced S and XS sizes, leading to remarkable success where female consumers now contribute half of the nearly 2 million euros in sales projected for 2025.
Building on its strong performance, particularly within the prestigious Le Bon Marché department store on Paris’s Left Bank, Baziszt is poised to capitalize on its burgeoning desirability. The brand is set to open its inaugural boutique in the French capital in early October. Located at 16, rue Saint-Roch, a 75-square-meter space secured with a one-year lease, the store is strategically positioned near the bustling rue Saint-Honoré and directly opposite the Maison Sarah Lavoine boutique.
This flagship boutique is envisioned by Baziszt’s founders not as the beginning of a vast retail chain, but as a singular, immersive destination to present the label's complete universe. This strategic move follows a period of concentrated effort on developing e-commerce and expanding its presence in approximately one hundred selective points of sale. The initiative is expected to significantly boost the brand's visibility and solidify its premium image, aligning with Baziszt's broader objective of expanding its discerning audience.
