Bottega Veneta’s New York Expansion Brings Italian Craftsmanship to the Meatpacking District
Bottega Veneta has expanded its New York City footprint with the opening of a new 312-square-metre store located at 58 Gansevoort Street, firmly establishing itself in the vibrant Meatpacking District. This latest location underscores the brand’s commitment to one of Manhattan’s premier luxury retail destinations and builds upon its history in the city, which began with its first New York store on Madison Avenue in 1972.
The interior design of the new Bottega Veneta store reflects a sophisticated interplay of textures and materials. Concrete flooring and walls provide a raw, industrial backdrop, softened by the warmth of natural oak shelving and striking Verde Saint Denis green marble accents on shelves and panels. Custom display cabinets showcase the brand’s collections, complemented by thoughtfully selected furniture pieces from designers Jorge Zalszupin and Lea Colombo, creating an atmosphere of understated luxury.
Paying homage to its Italian roots, the store incorporates a delicate glass vase crafted by Orsoni, a Venetian glassmaker with a legacy dating back to 1888. Beyond showcasing products, the space also celebrates Bottega Veneta’s iconic craftsmanship. A dedicated display cabinet highlights the brand’s signature Intrecciato leather weave, a technique that has defined the house for the past 50 years, and its distinctive colour palette.
The new store is designed to resonate with the cultural heritage of the Meatpacking District and Bottega Veneta’s long-standing connection to New York’s creative community. This is evidenced by the inclusion of an in-store library curated with a focus on poetry and painting. The collection features notable works such as Robert Rauschenberg’s illustrations for Dante’s Inferno, Etel Adnan’s Between East & West, and Ed Roberson’s Road Poems, alongside a selection of carefully chosen artworks.
The store offers Bottega Veneta’s complete range of products for both men and women. Customers can explore the house’s full assortment, including signature bags, ready-to-wear collections, shoes, and small leather goods, as well as eyewear, jewellery, fragrances, and travel accessories. Founded in Vicenza, Italy, in 1966, Bottega Veneta continues to blend its heritage with contemporary design in this new Manhattan location.
